A few weeks ago I had some blood work done and got the results today. Everything is normal including my thyroid, pancreas, kidney function, calcium and vit D levels. Actually, I was pretty surprised to hear about the calcium and vit D levels being normal especially since I was diagnosed with osteopenia 10 years ago via DEXA scan.
The one thing that was high? My cholesterol. I have no idea how that can be given the fact that I can't eat anything. I'm very confused. Geez, if I was out wining and dining I could understand, but on the limited variety of foods I've been eating?

As my doctor points out, cholesterol levels are due more to heredity effects, than to diet. Some of us are just prone to trend toward higher cholesterol levels.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I have Osteoporosis and my blood calcium levels are normal. But that may be because my body is taking calcium from may bones to keep the blood level normal.
IMHO the more telling test is a urine test to measure the amount of calcium you are expelling. I suspect that a cause of Osteoporosis / Osteopenia is not enough calcium in the bone via malabsorption or too rapid removal of minerals from the bones or both.
Best wishes, Ant
