I've been looking at Quinoa flakes at the store for a couple of weeks now and today I bought a box. I'm desperate for something to eat in the mornings. I figure that I'll cook it like you would oat meal. But, I don't know what to mix into it. I bought blueberries, but probably shouldn't eat those at this point. I have real maple syrup and unsweetened coconut flakes too. Has anyone ever tried Quinoa flakes as a breakfast cereal? If so, what do you mix into it?
The maple syrup would be good I think. Here's what I do. Cook flakes with water, add a dab of smart balance and spoonful of brown sugar and a splash of milk. The Quinoa flake cereal has a unique flavor, different than oatmeal or cream of rice. I think (hope) you'll like it.
From my own experience I can tell you that it's amazing how quickly one can develop a taste for something that doesn't cause trouble . Lots of luck with the quinoa flakes - let us know how it goes.
Love,
Kari

I tried it this morning and it caused no problems so far. I guess, to me, it's just like oatmeal or cottage cheese, nothing to chew. Hopefully, I'll find something that I can put into it to satisfy that need in me. Not any time soon, mind you.
