Need modern toilet recommendations or reviews

As many of you know, I just started a full renovation of my 1956 time capsule rambler. Hubby and I are going with a contemporary/modern interior. I am in the middle of plumbing fixture decisions for 3 bathrooms (kids, master and powder), and I can't help but think about my toilet options given the MC. As much as I'd like a toilet with a bidet seat (water spray attached), hubby won't go for it.

I'm about to select the Kohler Persuade dual flush model (0.8 or 1.6 GPF depending on your needs at the time). You press one button for a half flush (pee) and the second button for a full-flush. Does anyone have experience with this toilet, good or bad? My MC complaint is that the pile of D sticks like glue to the bottom of the toilet, especially on elongated toilets. It's often a 2 flush situation. On the other hand, I have kids and a husband who have been known to clog a toilet with their footlong normans or flushable wipes.

Any recommendations for a fully skirted or modern looking toilet model? Warnings? Shoul I avoid the 1.28 GPF low-water models?

I'm not familiar with that particular Kohler model. We have low water volume ones by Kohler but they have a special tank within the tank that keeps the water pressure up to whatever the water comes into your house. We haven't had any problems with my hubbie's normans or my stages of MC.

Morning Zizzle,

I am familar with that particular model since we had one in the home we renovated and sold. I thought it worked perfect with the MC conditions and the option of the flush was great since we were on a private (spring house) water system along with septic.

Hope the renovation is going well.

Hi Zizzle I cant hep out too much with this topic, but we do have a good design in the northeast that requires no plumbing or facilities of any kind and even has a fancy crescent moon design on the door

I think most loos where the bm (including D) goes straight into water are ok. I have sometimes come across loos (mainly in France) with a ledge before the water....Disaster!!

Joe.. LOL!! We have them up here too... my husband is putting one out at our barn because it is a long way back to the house. For him, it's his knees that makes him want it. For me.. well...you guys know!

Zizzle, It was fun talking about our alternative water closets LOL, butI should actually contribute to your question in a meaningful way

You had asked about the variable rate toilets which I think are a great idea. The ones with 2 flush volumes have been the standard for years in most of the world, for some reason they are just catching on here in the US. I know my recent trip to Oz when MC was still not totally in control they worked just fine. I would not pick the low flow only model, but the selectable flow model would be a great choice.

So sorry you can't get your bidet Zizzle, they are simply fabulous!!! Saves a lot of soreness from the rubbing.
