Chocolate.....HELP Please!

GLoria,

You mentioned a soy free cooking spray that was available at passover - what name brand is it - I could never find one.

Pampered Chef makes an oil spray bottle, which you could fill with whatever oil you wanted. I've had 2 of them. The only thing I can say is, order more than one at a time, because they do clog up after a while. But otherwise, it's a great invention. I think you can get them at higher end kitchen gadget stores too. It's like having cooking spray for whatever type of oil you want.

I have one of those gadgets and don't like it. I probably won't buy the other for myself but want to know to help my clients.

MaryBeth, I agree, that thing is glitchy, but it's better than unwanted ingredients.

They were just stocking the passover items today. I read your post before I left to go shopping and there it was. Thank you, again. I checked, but they didn't have that chocolate. I guess it has to be ordered online. I was hoping.

Gloria, how do you keep that chocolate for a year without it looking or tasting funny? I want to place an order and my husband brought this question up.

I keep it in a cool room and it lasts for about a year. After a year, the qualitity will begin to deteriorate.

I've never paid a lot of attention to expiration dates on foods or most medication for that matter. I think the expiration dates are a CYA matter, and also a way to make consumers purchase foods and medications more frequently. I'm using yeast that I bought probably 15-20 years ago. I'm almost embarrassed to write that, but I will keep food on hand if it's still good. I keep the yeast in my freezer and proof it before I use it. It still works fine.

I have found the following GF, DF, SF chocolate bars: Chocolove Organic only, and Rapunzel, several varieties. They are expensive but seem to get rotated at our local food co-op, so stock up then. The Rapunzel have some different varieties such as almond that are good.

I was so excited for Passover to come last year after Dee made comments about the products that are available, but in this area guess there are very few Jewish folks, because it was a huge disappointment. I guess I found one box of potato starch half off afterwards! We have a new Wal-Mart Superstore now, so hopefully will see something there. They have a GF section and found Tinkyada cheaper than the best price on line, so the trend is my friend!

I just checked the grocery store that usually carries Passover items, but they didn't have any. I don't think it's too early to look, but maybe so. They built another store down the street from a Jewish synagogue, so perhaps that store has the Passover items. I takes some searching, and it's best to look in an area with a fairly heavy Jewish population.

If all else fails, we can always purchase items online.

thats why i buy things online, frequently i would travel to shops 30 mins - 40 mins away from home to find that they have sold out and dont know when the next order will be in. some were ok about keeping stock aside and ringing me when they order came in, others werent soo good with that.

one of my websites providers are great, they only process the freight costs once they pick and pack the order, that way if they are short on some of the items i am only paying the freight relative to what is being sent, not based on my order. They also put a slip in the order letting me know when things will be back in stock.
