I am sure that I have read somewhere on here that MC can cause deficiencies, however I shall let someone else confirm my suspicions!

Depending what stage your digestion is at, if you have no inflammation, reasonable transit times and reasonable BMs then the digestion system ability to absorb nutrients from foods and supplements will be ok, IMO it will be about 70 - 80% of a person who doesnt have MC/Crohns/Colitis.

if you have inflammation and rapid transit times aside from the absorbion issue, a compromised digestion system also puts pressure on the liver, kidneys etc which are also part of the process of our bodies getting the benefit of the nutrients.

It's true for someone who only has simple, classic MC, with no complications. Unfortunately, though, most of us have numerous satellite issues that are associated with the MC, (such as the leaky gut syndrome, small intestinal involvement, etc.), which can cause malabsorption of nutrients, and we tend to run very short of certain vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, etc., unless we take supplements regularly.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
