I went to my second acupuncture session today and I am finding it quite helpful. If for no other reason than to lie down in a nice sunny place and just let my mind go to good places. While lying there I can almost believe that there is nothing wrong with me and just feel great.
She works with Chinese herbs, but has not suggested that I take any at this point, but did recommend Cod Liver Oil because of it anti-inflammatory agents. Her husband has colitis and several members in her family and she says it helps. Has anyone ever taken this? It's a fermented cod liver oil.
The problem with cod liver oil, (and fermented cod liver oil), is that it is loaded with vitamin A, and a high level of vitamin A restricts the absorption of vitamin D. Virtually no one is short of vitamin A these days, (in fact, too much tends to be toxic), so if you are intending to use it as a source of vitamin D, it tends to be counterproductive.
Cod liver oil caused problems in the past, until someone figured out that the high vitamin A content was the problem. If your acupuncturist wants to help her family, they would be much better off with some other source of vitamin D. Crohn's disease, for example, causes malabsorption of vitamin D, so anyone with Crohn's definitely needs a vitamin D supplement. The cod liver oil might help some, but just plain vitamin D, (without so much vitamin A), would probably be much more beneficial.
Was that what you wanted to do with the image?

Hi Tex,
I just had lab work done and my cardiologist said my D level was very high, meaning "good high", so there is no reason for me to take it for that. She said it was for the vitamin A. I do take fish oil, so I think I am covered with the Omega's. No need to be taking something I don't need.
