Stress alters intestinal bacteria

Post by Zizzle »

Lots of good research coming to light recently. I feel like we are on the verge of a MC smoking gun.

I'm on vacation in FL writing from my cell phone so i need to be brief. One strange thing--major sunburn on day 1 and it won't turn to a tan 3 days later. I'm still in pain. I usually tan very easily. Could this be photosensitivity? Does this happen to others with MC? I'm on no medications of any kind. Even forgot my vitamins for this trip. No other assciated diseases (yet). Can sunburn that won't heal be tied to MC?

Ouch - your sunburn sounds very painful! I have no idea if there's any relationship between sunburn and MC.

The article you linked to is very interesting and supports what we've suspected as a board. Thanks for posting it.

The rare syndrome described at the following link, is the only reference to a connection between photosensitivity and colitis that I can find:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Being fair skinned I burn quite easily, but I have not noticed a new sensitivity.

In my youth, as long as I was careful and took it slowly on summer holidays, I could get quite brown. But as I got older I stayed out of the sun to try and make sure my skin did not wrinkle too soon (vanity!). But of course I now know that might have reduced my vit D. So in the last couple of years I try to go into the sun for moderate amounts of time to get exposure and (hopefully) more vit D.
