I Need Some Suggestions
Hi All,
I asked Peggy what she thought about sending Jodi some flowers to cheer her up, and to show our support, and she agreed that it seemed like a good idea, so unless I get a bunch of serious objections, here, Peggy will send her some flowers, on behalf of the membership of this board. She suggested that I ask for ideas on what to say on the card, so I'm hereby open for suggestions.
What should the card say?
Love,
Tex

Deb and Arlene,
The flower fund was created about 5 years ago, as a means for the members of this board to send flowers to any member who has had major surgery, or who has experienced a death in their immediate family. Occasionally, we've sent flowers in other situations where we felt that they would be very beneficial, for some special reason. The "flower pot" is funded, of course, by member donations.
Peggy, in British Columbia, takes care of the fund, and handles sending the flowers. She doesn't post very often anymore, these days, (she's on disability because of MC, and kinda bummed out by the disease), but she enjoys taking care of the details of getting the flowers to where they need to go.
Ant,
Currently the fund is in excellent condition.
Arlene,
Thanks for the suggestion. We'll probably go with that, unless someone comes up with something "better", soon.

totally agree with the suggestion and arlene's wording
if friends have a death in their family, I do not send flowers at the time of the funeral, it is months down the track they need the reminder of friendship and support.

Tex I think its a great idea and agree with the other posts here.
Now is the time she needs to hear of our support. I think this is a great idea. We may want to think of a way to send her a couple of cards of encouragement from the group as time goes on. Maybe we could each post a few sentences to a message and have that mailed to her home address.

Sure, donations are appreciated any time. Usually, though, we just rock along until the fund begins to get low, and then Peggy or I mention it on the board. The last time, the response was excellent, and since then, if my memory is right, we haven't used very much of it.Arlene wrote:Can the newbies still contribute?
Considering the support and knowledge I've received from this group, I'd be honored to contribute.
We certainly appreciate your kind offer, but the fact of the matter is, you do contribute a lot to this board, already, and we are just as honored to share this place in cyberspace with you, as you feel about us.

OK, I'll PM you Peggy's mailing address. She keeps a U. S. bank account for this purpose, so that checks written on U. S. banks are not a problem. Postage from the U. S. to British Columbia is $0.75 at the post office these days, I believe, so if you don't want to have to fiddle with foreign postage, I'll include my mailing address, and you can either send it to her, or send it to me, and I'll forward it to her.
Thanks, but please don't feel obligated.
