I am entering this post rather late....

Just wanted to say that in my early 20s I was Dx with Hiatus Hernia (HH) causing pain and reflux....I have had this on and off since then (but much less so since going Gluten, Diary, Soy, etc. free)

Apart from occasionally taking gaviscon pills, the best advice I got was to lift up the head of my bed a few inches by putting a brick under each of the headboard legs.

Hope this is a useful thought, best ant.

PS. HH played up the most when I was on skiiing holidays.....when I eat a lot of french fries, salads and cheese, drank a lot of wine and put pressure on my gut and (I suppose) my stomach by the skiing action of leaning forward and bending the knees tight into my torso as I 'charged' down the molehills. Can't do that anymore :sigh:

A friend did that with bricks under the bed legs at the head, and it did help her.

I have been noticing if I hunch over my laptop, I really feel less comfortable. That was never an issue for me before, and maybe it won't be such a problem when I get a little closer to healing. I can definitely see how that skiing tuck would be problematic.

Gloria,

It's funny what we ignore (until we can't). I definitely had a couple of odd mouth sores a few months ago - atypical for me. And nosebleeds, which I assumed was from dryness. In fact, the morning the D started up, I woke up with a nosebleed. It could still be unrelated, of course. And it sure seemed minor compared to the 5-alarm digestive symptoms.

It seems like great news that yours are so much reduced. That does seem like a likely indicator of real healing progress.
