Quick Update -- Flaring Away

Post by MBombardier »

I have been busier than usual so i haven't spent much time on the board. I just wanted to give a quick update.

I am in the midst of an unremitting flare, and suspect that I am reacting to more than one food, and/or perhaps I am getting some gluten contamination. I have been reluctant to toss utensils (how can I get rid of a rolling pin that my father made me from a piece of cherry at the same time he made one for my mother and my sis-in-law?) but with a GF family now I need to be more vigilant.

The "winning the poo" diary is a great tool. I have already learned a lot about what I am eating and how it affects not only my gut but my general well-being. I think I am going to add a stress-level measure of some kind to it, as we all know that stress can throw everything off.

Marliss,

I'm sorry to hear about your flare.

I need to be more rigorous with my own diary. And I think I can't eat anything cooked in our cast-iron pans, which are my husband's absolute favorites. I think it's possible that some of my ups and downs have to do with one pan in particular, but I've only just thought of it and haven't been tracking it at all.

Of course you can't get rid of that rolling pin! I think you should mount it on the wall, like art. I have a little stepstool my father made in wood-shop when he was in junior high on the wall of my kitchen. I'm always amazed at how people respond to it, even before they know its personal history.

Wishing you speedy relief,

Sara

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. That winney the pooh diary is a good idea and I'm trying to be more diligent with mine, too. I hope your stress level drops soon. Could you get yourself a marble rolling pin to use and keep the other for sentimental reasons but not use it?

Marliss,

Perhaps you need a boost from a little Entocort?

That's a good idea, Sara. I already have one rolling pin on the wall, one from Germany that is used to make raised figures on cookies as they are rolled out.

Rich, believe me, I've thought about it. But removing corn and rice from my diet seems to have done the trick...

Good for you.

I hope you have clear sailing after this.

Marliss, that's great news.

Now you just need one more rolling pin with a family story or special use, and you'll have a collection ;)

So glad you're feeling better,

Marliss,

Great detective work-this is fabulous news! Hopefully you are feeling much better now that you've eliminated 2 more big ones from your diet. I too, recently eliminated rice and it made a big difference. I may have to give corn a try next although I don't see where I really could be getting much other than fillers in supplements and meds. Keep us posted on your progress.

We must be soul mates because I also have an antique rolling pin from Germany hanging in my kitchen.
