Gabes I grabbed some small glass sample vials for the gold. I have 3 of them. They are a little of an inch tall (~3cm)

the other part of the gold adventure, is that we are sleeping in train carriages, yep my friends have built their house around 2 train carriages so the spare beds are the bunks, it is way awesome...

Train carriages! I believe that merits a whole photo essay on its own.

I think the glass sample vials sound nifty (and photogenic, with and without gold) ;) Not that I have anything against plastic bags! (How else would I throw a chicken thigh in my purse - and where I else would I have thought to do that if not here?)

Looking forward to picturespicturespictures - Gabes, feel free to model the lipsticks as part of your "product review"!

Joe, you are *literally* on your way. Awesome.

Soy free lipstick is not a problem. I am going to let Joe get settled, then I am planning a trip! If Joe can make the trip, so can I. You know, maybe I can find a short term teaching gig. I have always wanted to visit Oz!

Sara I am on my way as I type this, I am currently in Detroit and will be leaving for LA in about an hour. Once I am on the cross country flight I will start my travel log post that I will use throughout the trip to post photos and updates.

I did bring my good camera and will be taking lots of photos, including this really cool train car house... That's going to be quite the experience.

Thanks to everyone for all the responses and encouragement... It's time now to relax enjoy the trip and look forward to some fun.

I did a 36 hour transit from Brisbane Australia to Marseille in France (and back) June 2010 for work - I had only been diagnosed for 6 months.
quite a bit of my learnings from my trip has given Joe the food set ups for his trip.

it is not easy but it is dooable.

highlight of the transit was 'high tea MC style' in hong kong airport with Ant!

I should mention Gabes is the real trailblazer here when it comes to long transits and mc, at least as long as I have been on the board. I mostly am using what I have learned from her and Gloria and adopting those techniques to suit my diet.

I panned for gold a couple of times when I was in Alaska on exteded trips and it was fun but definitely back breaking.

Bon Voyage Joe and have a great time and get things tied down for your stay there. Looking forward to your blog and also to you having a great time exploring with Gabes.

Love, Maggie
