I did! We arranged a phone call - it was 11 PM my time and 1 PM the next day Oz time (14 hours difference). I have always wanted to chat with Gabes, and Joe kindly set it up with his satellite cell phone. I had never before talked with anyone in Australia. The connection was great - it sounded like they were in the next room.
I spoke briefly with Joe first and then for an hour with Gabes. Honestly, I think we could have talked forever! It felt like I was talking to my oldest and dearest friend. This PP family is amazing, isn't it?
Joe, thank you so much for this special treat. And I'll be thinking of you both as your adventures continue - the winery, fossicking, carriage berths, etc. Don't forget to send me a bird photo - maybe of that "thief" bird or the one they changed the bottle tops for. Gabes, I hope you find some champagne that agrees with you on the tour. Joe, enjoy those chocolate muffins and mellow coffee.
Love,
Polly

Yes, exciting is a good word! Even more exciting than the first phone call between you and me was the first time we met in person in Cape May. That was so much fun!! It was just like we had always known each other, and we talked for HOURS!
Have a great day!
Hugs,
Polly

Hi Polly,
I am so happy that you got to talk to each other. I was just telling Kelly on a PM that I feel like I have a whole group of new friends. My husband and I are going to try to get together with Joe before he moves. We don't live too far from each other and now share the same doctor. It will be nice to meet him.
Isn't Cape May beautiful? We were down there a few years ago. My son lives on the Jersey Shore and we went on a little excursion from there.
it was truely a delightful treat! better than any chocolate treat that you would have got for easter pre MC
I will make sure my PP profile has my skype details.
after a big day of exploring yesterday - Joe is doing up the post with photos as I type, today has been our low key day bit of hunting and gathering at the shops, i have cooked the Orgran chocolate cake to take to my friends place, have cooked veges for our breakfasts, chicken for our snacks so we are ready for the excursion to the wineries tomorrow.
I am about to cook MC friendly GF DF SF Anzac cookies
It is Anzac day here on Monday, it started as the commeration when the anzac forces (australian and new zealand army corps) did the attack at Gallapoli during ww1, these days all wars and peace keeping activities are acknowledged.
Anzac biscuits are sweet biscuit that the wives made, put them in tins and sent them to their husbands and sons during WW1, the ingredients didnt spoil, the biscuits kept their texture and survived the naval transportation.
the normal recipe uses rolled oats, flour, coconut, sugar, butter and golden syrup. we have found coconut flour so it wont be so fibrous, and we have coconut palm sugar so i should be able to get the flavour and the texture and still be MC friendly with the substitute ingredients I have.
wish me luck
take care everybody

Gabes - thanks for teaching us a bit about Australian history. The cookies sound awesome - I've no doubt they will come out good. Then again, anything with even a hint of sweetness tastes heavenly to me these days .
Polly - how very special it must have been to connect with Joe and Gabes - good for the 3 of you!!!
Love and hugs,
Kari

i found champagne, shiraz, merlo, cab sav that is all preservative free and none of the chemicals other bottled wines have.
i had a small amount with dinner last night and no issues.....
what was more exciting was that we have been having fantastic weather, and i have had a wonderful weekend with some of my closest friends.
where we stayed Sunday night - in the train carriages and yes Joe has photos, they did a very thorough scrub of their bbq so it was totally clean in preperation to cook dinner for Joe and I.
lots and lots of photos to come!!!

I love FaceTime. Just haven't tried it with anyone overseas. If you create a FaceTime account with your email you sent to me when you bought your iPad, we can give it a try.
You will have to be on wifi when using it unless you have a jail broken iPad.
