The Value of Friendship with MC 1 Year Later

Post by Joefnh »

Well folks it's now been a year with MC and a year on this site, and what a difference a year makes. As a bit of a background, after 10+ years of misc autoimmune symptoms, MC and Crohns disease were diagnosed last April. Since then much has happened both with my health and the path my life is taking as within a few short months I will be moving to Australia.

With medications and diet I have been able to keep both the MC and the pain of Crohns disease in remission. It has been through the kind people of this site that I have to thank for the progress that has been made. Yes I have done the work, but through the incredible knowledge and encouragement that I have found here, I have been able to take charge of my health while pursuing the path to wellness.

I would be remiss if I did not mention the wonderful friendship that has developed with Gabes that has made all the difference in the world. Gabes through your patience, kindness and unconditional friendship you have made this journey to wellness the success that it has become. You are certainly a special soul. Thank you...

Thanks to all here for your support, the gold star by my name is a sign that there is hope if we stick to a diet and are willing to do the hard work.

I am looking forward to another year of progress and friendship with this group and of course a move to Australia

Go King Wally!!!! (... You'll just have to Ask Gabes )

Joe - congratulations on your first gold star  - I have a few months to go before I earn mine. Have a feeling we'll see each other in this neighborhood for many gold stars to come :).

Love,
Kari

Joe,
Congratulations on your progress. You have made such positive steps to improve your lifesyle since being diagnosed. Without Crohns Disease and MC you would never had met Gabes and Australia would not be on your horizon. I guess things do happen for a reason.

Congratulations, Joe, on all your progress - and on your continued inspiration to the rest of us. I know many of us are optimistic about our own gold stars and life-dreams to come, thanks to you.

Thanks for sharing your 'anniversary' and your encouragement.

Love,

King Wally
we have many codes of 'football' in Oz, Rugby Leage, Rugby Union, AFL and soccer. In Rugby League in Queensland, Wally Lewis played and captained the Brisbane Team, the Queensland Team and the Australian Team (playing against New Zealand and England). He was a star player in helping teams win.

In Brisbane it doesnt matter too much which team you support but you can not say a negative thing about 'King Wally' (or you will get an upper cut to your jaw or eye...) King Wally presents the sport on one of news channels.
When we were shopping on the weekend, Joe's accent was noticed by many and I mentioned that i had been educating him in the important information such as never say a bad word about King Wally and quite a few people ie check out ladies at the supermarket replied 'Most Definately'

There is a bronze statue of King Wally outside the stadium in Brisbane, in the January floods someone put on the statue a snorkel and goggles so he wouldnt drown.

With the weekend 'Oz speak lessons' Joe is starting to get in the mode of Oz Speak - he is now calling a shopping cart a trolley, the restroom a toilet or dunny, cell phone is mobile phone, utility vehicle is a Ute, if something is broken it is dodgy.

the drivers side passenger side thing will take him a while........

Wow Joe,
It really is amazing how lost and confused many of us are before we join this forum. The Potty People are truly an anchor in the storm (of MC.) I'm doubly impressed by your ability to manage the Crohn's with diet too, and manage what could be stressful move to the opposite side of the earth!

Thanks for all the replies... Zizzle it has been a challenge and diet is a large part of manintaing wellness., buo keep in mind that at this stage i am one of the immunosuppresive medications Imuran to help control both the mc and the Crohns.

The goal once I get settled in Oz is to work my way off of the meds using diet and alternative therapies like accupuncture and BIA. I don't mind using the meds when they are necessary, but would llike to minimize the timeframe that I am taking them.
