Hi all,
It's been a long, long time since I've posted, but just wanted to see who all is still here.
As some of you know, I was taking care of my mother who was striken with Parkinson's for a long, long time.
She passed away not long ago. She was almost 90 yrs old when she passed.
I just returned recently from a little diversion, visiting some friends in the Atlanta area with whom I visited
Savannah for the first time, and even had dinner one evening on Hilton Head. Polly, I'd LOVE to go back there.
Think that's a place that you like, right?
We just saw the bay water (guess that's what it's called) outside the restaurant, and didn't have time before dark to visit the ocean before returning to our hotel, but I want to see that next time when I have
more time, hopefully. The S.C. visit was sort of spur of the moment since it was so close to Savannah.
It was good to have that time to spend with my friends who have been a great support through the years.
Now, it's time to get to work on other things, but it sure feels strange not having Mother with me to care for.
Will do my best to get back here, so let me know who is still here from my days on the board. I wish I could read every post to get to know all the newbies...most of whom are probably oldbies by now...and catch up on those I knew from the old days, but anyway... Will do my best.
By the way, I'm still doing great off all the relevant foods for my sister and I...gluten, dairy, soy, eggs, and(added) dietary yeast. I've been off gluten since Thanksgiving of 2002 and the rest came by spring of 2003.
Still taking no medications and everything in the gut appears normal. Guess I'll be due for another colonoscopy by November of 2012. Really looking forward to THAT...NOT!!!
Drop me a line if you have time.
Yours, Luce

Lucy,
So sorry for your loss. My mother is still living in her home. My daughter graduated from the local junior college a week ago Friday. After work the day before, I picked her up & brought her to my house (about a 60 min drive). She watched her walk across the stage. DD was thrilled her grandma was in the audience. The next day we drove to another town to see my younger brother ordained as a deacon in his church. Mom went home with brother and his wife. Whew, a busy weekend.
It's good to hear from you. Take care & stop by more often.

Hi, Lucy!
It's great to read a post from you again. I've wondered how you've been doing. I'm so sorry to read about your mom. You were a wonderful daughter and I'm sure your mother appreciates what you did. Living until nearly 90 years with Parkinsons is pretty unusual, isn't it? That's surely due to your loving care.
We do have many new members and a few veteran members who still post. I suppose I'm considered a veteran member by now.
I'm looking forward to your participation again. I always appreciated your input here and on the old board.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Hi Luce,
Good to hear from you . . .was wondering how you were doing. Sorry to hear about your mom - I figured you were busy caring for her.
Glad you are still in remission with diet and no drugs - same here. Look forward to your input.

Luce,
My deepest sympathies on the loss of your mother. I know how strange it feels when your caregiving duties are done, but the habit of caring is so strong for so long. It took me some time to get out of the habit of worrying about my mother, or thinking of ways to improve or enliven her life (and it took longer before I realized I needed to redirect that energy into new things!).
It's great for us newer folks to hear that you're doing so well, long-term, managing MC with diet. I'm wishing you all the best,
Sara

How are you?? been a long time**I myself was off the board for nearly a year. Sorry about the loss of your mother**it's hard, I lost my mother then 8 months later Dad, the 8 months later my Father In Law. You never forget them**it gets a little easier every year to remember the folks with tears of joy instead of loss.
May I be more compassionate and loving than yeterday*and be able to spot the idiots in advance

I am so glad to see a post from you.
You have been a wonderful, dedicated and caring daughter. You have set a shining expamle. I know that doesn't ease the loss but please know how much I admire you.
Glad you had a "getaway" and I hope it's just the beginning.
Love, Shirley

Lucy, I'm sorry for the loss of your mother. You gave so much and were a wonderful daughter. I've wondered how you have been. I remember your great kindness and help when I first joined this board. You took so much time to help and explain things to me. It's good to hear from you again, Love JoAnn
