Thank you, Gloria for your wishes and so-kind sentiment! I went in a few weeks ago to add my birth YEAR to my profile, thinking this is hardly the time to start concealing my age - while I can still remember it. Apparently I deleted my whole birthday, and when I noticed it yesterday... it seemed too late to add it back

Harma, thanks for your wishes as well. I had forgotten how to say that in Arabic. My mother spoke Arabic as a little girl (my grandmother was born in Beirut, and they lived with her parents for a time, who spoke no English). We only know how to say things like "how are you" and "may your height be preserved" (my grandmother thought my brother was soooo tall!), and "the lands and people are yours," plus food words.

I hope everyone is having the kind of beautiful day that's glorying away here!

Love,
Sara

Happy Birthday Sara!

Thanks to Gloria, for detecting your birthday and posting this topic. Since the info wasn't available to enable the system to hit me up aside the head with a 2x4, to alert me, I completely missed it.

And, of course, this is a most appropriate observation:

Incidentally, it's not necessary to enter a year, just a month and date will do, but you also have to make the right selection further down the page, (under "Preferences"), where it says: "Date of Birth Public Display Options:". The default selection is probably "Display Nothing", and in that case, nothing will be displayed, of course, so no one will ever know what a special day this is.

Arlene, thanks so much. Zizzle, I'll let you know what delicious celebration it turns out to be, and thank you, too.

Tex, I believe I joined in such a rush to get to the great info that I rushed through that whole profile setup. And then when I went back to it, I was too distracted by the staggering information I've learned in my few months here  Thanks for your lovely birthday wishes.

Love to all,
Sara

:bouqueofpinkroses: HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARA !!!!!

Hope you're having a wonderful day and birthday dinner - you're fortunate not to care much for sweets, since you won't be craving a gluten and dairy filled bday cake .

Wishing you much happiness and health today and every day.

I'm so glad you're part of the PP family.

Love and hugs,
Kari

Thanks, my fellow NY-er Barbara!

And Kari, you are so wise and right - we had a mid-afternoon smoothie, but no sweets this evening. We had a lovely meal in a sweet place (on Vanderbilt Ave. in Prospect Heights, if that rings a bell). The waitress was much smarter than I was - she understood that certain dishes are prepped in a way that makes un-dairying them infeasible (same would apply to gluten, or any other ingredient). So she conferred with the chef, and narrowed it down to a very few choices, only ruling out one thing that I had considered (what luck!). They re-configured a carrot salad that came with yogurt and almonds, and instead of the yogurt, did something with a house-made almond butter. It was great! They used both cooked chunks and raw slivers of carrots, and both almond butter and fine-chopped almond slices. For us home-cookers, I thought that was a great lesson about using the same ingredients 2 ways for varied texture and flavor.

We also a cauliflower-raisin appetizer that was simple and special. There were hints of capers and pinenuts. (Time will tell - if those are off-limits for me, at least I had them in very small quantities!)

And I had a fish dish, with mint and a broth and peas. I had planned to take 2 Histame, but only had one in my purse, and (as they say) - so far so good.

I'm so glad to be part of this family - have learned so much from each and all of you, in so many different ways. This light-hearted night out was so sweet, and truly thanks to all I've learned here. For me eating was always about curiosity and optimism - not fear and trepidation. I do believe in accepting limits and constraints - and being curious and optimistic therein.

wishing you all much love, and hope, and curiosity (and tastiness and HEALTH),

Sara
