Itchy bumps on head, arms, legs
Here I go again. My scalp is itching from bumps on my head, behind my ears, and on my forehead. I also have some itchy bumps on my legs and arms. I was at the beach yesterday and initially thought they were bug bites, but my daughter was with me and didn't get any.
The only thing I've done differently is eat a coconut pancake two days ago (it was awful) and ate some coconut ice cream. Sigh. It's probably the coconut. My one chance to eat some ice cream. I've usually only eaten coconut milk in my coconut pudding. I guess I'll have to stop eating it and test it later.
Apparently the H1 antihistamines reduce skin sensitivity and flushing symptoms. The H2 type is to reduce digestive problems, acid reflux and vomiting.
I bought Claritin, an H1 blocker to see if it will reduce the bumps.
A few weeks ago, I got another itchy bump on my arm, very similar to the itchy bump that got infected on my nose. It has crusted just like the one on my nose did. I thought it was shingles, but these bumps itch - they don't hurt.
I hope the Claritin works. If not, I bought Benedryl, but I'll only take it if the Claritin doesn't work.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Oh Gloria, I'm so sorry. I hope you get this figured out soon. I take a lot of Benadryl to prevent problems (around a lot of animals, etc.) and to help me sleep. I hope it's not the coconut.

Hope you're improving,

Gloria - I had an allergic reaction from the sun one time. I was on a medication that caused sun sensitivity. I had itchy bumps everywhere that was exposed. I think it was an antibiotic of some type. I hope the itching stops soon!

JoAnn,
No, my throat isn't scratchy. I don't have any other symptoms besides the itchy bumps. They're still there this morning, so I guess I'll take Benedryl.
Denise,
I didn't think of the sun connection. I'm not on any medication with that type of warning, but the last time I had these same bumps was last July, another sunny time. Maybe being in the sun brings it on? Last year I suspected rice or tapioca. I stopped eating both, but determined it was tapioca.
I've been eating coconut pudding for months now without a problem. I hope coconut is not the cause because it seems to soothe my gut.
Oddly enough, I had a perfect Norman this morning, so this doesn't seem to be related to my gut.

Gloria,
For me, Benedryl works, like a symptom-slammer. Others, like Claritin, don't have as dramatic effect. Benedryl really knocks me out, so I've used is as an emergency backup for seasonal allergies... I try my herbs/supplements, etc., and turn to Benedryl if it gets away from me.
Glad your digestion isn't affected, and here's hoping the itching is already dissipating...
Love,
Sara

Morning Gloria,
Sounds exactly what I sometimes get from the sun. For me it seemed to be a reaction to meds and the sun. Anymore I am very careful and have not had it since last year. Hope you are better soon.
Love, Maggie
