Not sure i did much, given i am on the opposite of the world, literally...
all i did was remind you to breathe, dont waste energy worrying about the things you cant control and to rest and nuture yourself,
and yeah got your hero, shaun the sheep** involved!
rest and sleep and rest and sleep (turn your mind off) and enjoy the drugs!
(** shaun the sheep is a plastacine character from a tv show, from the same people who did wallace and gromit, and creature comforts - like shauno the acupuncturist extradinaire, shaun the sheep is awesome)

From the sounds of it you were acting as a good friend, knowing that someone cares about you is the best medicine of all, distance is irrelevant. The many great people on this site are good examples of that.
I count myself quite fortunate to have found this site and all the great people here. Thanks to everyone here for all your kind notes and wishes.
For those who are interested here is the Shaun the Sheep character
So glad Shaun's with you in the hospital! (We are big fans...)
I know what you mean about friendship. Gabes is the real deal, and so are you. It is one of the weird 'privileges' of a serious encounter with one's own health, that we find who our real friends are, and are fortunate that we have found such true friendships here with one another.
You know that we're all pulling for you - thanks for the uplifting note reminding us that indeed, distance is irrelevant. We're with you from here (wherever here is for each of us).
I can't even begin to express my admiration for you and your courage in the face of hardship. You are simply an awe inspiring person. I truly hope that you'll get past this latest hurdle and on with your very exciting future in record time. You bring so much of yourself to this board, that it feels like I know you personally, and have come to sincerely care about you even though we've never met.
How in the world did you have the wits about you to post the picture of Shaun from your hospital bed??? It made me smile, as I have 3 video tapes of Wallace and Gromit, and Shaun is featured prominently in one of them. My grandchildren and I have watched those tapes over and over again, to the point where we all know most of the words:). I had no idea that Shaun has his own show .
Gabes - it is so comforting to know that you are there for Joe to help him through this. With your kind assistance, I have no doubt it will all turn out well. Sometimes we have to wonder why such calamities happen to us, but I have found from my own life experience that adversity builds character and strength when we're able to keep a positive attitude through it all. Both you and Joe are certainly shining examples of that.
Joe - all the best to you - surely the fact that you have so much going for you in your life will help speed your recovery, but please be gentle with yourself and take your time to let healing happen. All the wonderful things you have planned for your future will be there waiting for you.
Lots of love,
Kari

yep not only does Shaun have his own show ( i think they are up to season 3 now) the London west end have done a musical based on Shaun the Sheep. We will have to get you some shaun the sheep to watch with the grandkids!
strangely enough it was when i was homebound with chronic symptoms before MC diagnosis that i found shaun the sheep on the kids channel. Timmy (Shauns cousin with the dummy) also has his own show...

Hello everybody I just wanted to say thanks for all the support, I appreciate all the good wishes. With luck I will be out of the hospital within a couple of days. I'll post any updates.
Oh Joe!!
I'm sorry I didn't check in sooner! You truly did look like the picture of health on Tuesday. It's amazing how normal we can all look when our insides are betraying us. I imagine the stress of the trip and all the restaurant food didn't help. I'm so sorry this is happening. Did you get good news from the Pentagon at least?
Well what a surprise this was for you and not a good one. I was off the board since Thursday and just read what you have gone through and want you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Hoping for a speedy recovery for you. You just need to take it easy and get well. You have a lot to do before your move.
Love and Best Wishes, Maggie
