I happily get a flu shot every year. Started getting them when the military made me, and it made my life so much better, that I continued the practice from then on. That was when I started to have fewer colds, bronchitis, etc., so it increased my immunity to other things as well.

Since older people have so little immunity, and thus, so much less protection from their vaccines, particularly at my mother's advanced age, it is necessary for everyone who comes in the house to help with her to have had the vaccine as they could easily spread it to her, or even pass on a lighter case to me as I'm old enough to have a lowered response to the vaccines by now myself. Even when the immunity for more normal people is down to 25% when I'm a bit older, I'm still going to get them as that 25% may be the difference between misery and a much lighter case.

Yours, Luce

Dr. Mercola wrote:Remember that the potential effectiveness of a flu vaccine is dependent on the ASSUMPTION, made nearly a year in advance, that Asia’s viral strains will be the ones hitting the U.S. When they guess wrong, the vaccine is worthless from the very start.

But does that mean they withdraw the flu vaccine when they discover it contains the wrong strains? NO! They just keep giving it out anyway.
He has a point there, and I suppose that's the part that concerns me the most. That suggests that the primary goal of the project is to show a profit, whether the product is useful, or not. That's not a very professional attitude. Some might even view that as morally corrupt behavior.

That sums it up for me pretty well. I think far too much of this motivation goes on, we are guinea pigs for Big Pharma..."Here folks take this pill, it will...blah blah blah blah.....Ask your Doctor today if it is right for you" And of course your Doc will be more than glad to prescribe it.

Never mind that you might become constipated, feel suicidal, have oily D, not be able to sleep, not be able to wake up, can't operate machinery, rapid heartbeat, sweaty, cold chills, your lips might fall off...etc

I always like how the side effect are so contradictory of themselves..bottom line is.."Gee folks we don't exactly know what might happen if you take this stuff, but it will make us rich and might help a few of you, but if you die don't call us, we told you awful things might happen!"

Well, of course, if it weren't for the FDA twisting their arm, they wouldn't have to waste any valuable ad time, or ad space, boring us with all those gory details, that we eventually learn to just ignore, anyway, because we're constantly inundated with them. :sigh:

What gets me is the short ads on tv, when the disclaimers and caveats are so numerous, that it takes the announcer longer to rattle them off, (at 90 miles-an-hour), than it takes to describe the benefits.

:cowboy:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Oh I agree...I love the commercial for one med...who knows what it is for..but anyway, one side effect is "oily D"..or the one for depression and one of the side effects to report...suicidal thoughts..alrighty then, that must work real well.
