your humble nature is noted
one only has to read all your posts and discussion points to know that is not true!!

Have been bothered with D again and can't determine what is causing it. I keep a food diary and have been very faithful about eliminating gluten. I got to thinking, could it be the Aspartame in the Crystal Light Iced Tea I started drinking after giving up decaf coffee. Today I gave up the tea so will see if things improve. Went back to drinking coffee this morning as I didn't have problems with coffee before.
I am afraid to try cooked broccoli and cauliflower as I think they may be too gassy, but have been eating asparagus and cooked carrots. Are the carrots OK or do they have too much fiber? I feel I need more vegetables in my diet.
I keep seeing the almonds in the pantry and would love to have some but afraid they are too hard to digest right now.
Had a couple of spoons of peanut butter yesterday and no problem. Checked the label first.
Also, I read the ingredients on Miracle Whip (not lite) and used about 1 T in some fresh salmon. Are these ok.
Won't have lab results until about the 19th.

sorry to hear you are still having issues....
i have found that i can tolerate small amount of brocoli but i have too much of it then it causes me issues.
(and maybe it depends on how happy my digestion is that day)
while i am still healing and adjusting i overcook most of my veges and mash them (gooey baby food) to make it less work for the digestion process

WW,
Many of us cannot tolerate aspertame, specifically, and most artificial sweeteners, in general. Aspertame and sorbitol are usually the worst. Of course, sorbitol occurs naturally in many fruits, but I still react to sorbitol, even though I am in remission, if a food contains significant quantities of it, (including fruits).
With most vegetables, whether or not the fiber will be a problem, often depends on how much of the item you eat. IOW, it's not necessarily the percentage of fiber in a food that matters, so much as how much of it you consume. Obviously, you can safely eat more of a low-fiber food, than a high-fiber food.
The almonds may be OK, if you chew them well. Almond butter is available at health food stores, by the way, in case you are not aware of it.
Whether or not that salad dressing is safe for you, depends on which foods you are avoiding. Miracle Whip contains soybean oil, for example, and eggs. It also contains the preservative, potassium sorbate, (which may or may not be a problem), and I believe it contains garlic, (which bothers some members, but the garlic content is probably very, very low, in this case).

I found these two web sites that list the safe and unsafe items on the food labels and I refer to them quite often. Potassium sorbate is on the "safe list" so I went ahead and used the Miracle Whip. I have included them here in case anyone is interested.

I am not familiar with almond butter. It must be like peanut butter of which I have two unopened jars. I may try it and leave the peanut butter for my husband.
I am overcooking my vegies too. I mashed the sweet potato but the baby carrots I left whole this time. Last time I put them in my small food processor. I have several cooked vegies in the refrigerator so I just have a couple of spoons of each. I think I ran across a web site that listed the fiber content in the different foods. I will look for it again.
It is my turn to bring desert tomorrow for a class I attend at church. I bought two items at Costco and I am going to ask someone else to cut and serve them. I have a very hard time when I am around sweets. I have two GF rice cakes in a baggie that I will take for my treat while everyone else has the Lemon and Chocolate deserts. Whatever is left I will take with me tomorrow night when I go to a dance. I never have sweets in the house as I have no will power. This is a very close group and I intend to share with them about my CC and tell them how important it is that I don't eat any of this. So, when I get home tomorrow at 4:00 I hope I can log in and report that I kept my word and didn't eat so much as a morsel of any of the deserts.

good idea to take your own snack and play it safe.
at first i was avoiding the work things with food etc, now i just come along and either bring my own stuff or eat before hand. i dont mind admitting i have food intolerances and that certain food are on my banned list.
I figure, i have done nothing wrong to get this condition. (not like smoking and lung cancer or excessive drinking and liver damage.)
it is in the 'fact of life' category... (ie i cant really change it) so i am going to embrace it for what it is

Gabes,
You certainly have the right idea. It's a hell of a disease, but it's no one's fault that they have it, so there's no reason why anyone should feel guilty about having it, and there's no reason to be apologetic about having it, either.

Dear WW
Of course, lets hope you are one of those who is not intolerant to soy.
I hope you soon get rid of D.
All best, Ant
Hopefully you will soon have a clearer idea about your food intolerances. As you will have read most with MC here are intolerant to Gluten and Diary, and about half to soy. If you are intolerance to soy this might also suggest difficulty with all legumes (i.e. beans and peas). Peanut is not actually a "nut" but a legume. So it is possible if you are intolerant to soy you would also react to peanuts.Have been bothered with D again and can't determine what is causing it.
I hope you soon get rid of D.

i have found one of my worst enemies is stress.
I had just got back on track from last weeks flare up. Then yesterday morning, my car broke down (in the pouring rain) then there was 6 hours of stress, having to ask work mates for help and deal with the myraid of hiccups getting it to my mechanic to get it fixed, as soon as i got home, the cramping and pain started and i had a bad day today
years ago, days like yesterday wouldnt phase me, (my nick APG is a nick name workmates gave me All Powerful Goddess as i was the one that solved all the issues and nothing phased me!!!) but now, days where i use adrenalin, i tend to have symptoms for 24hours or more afterwards... all part of the learning of what my limits are
Tex - i think that is where my attitude of "what it is, is what it is" comes from. I think i have realised that I dont have the spare energy to try and hide it and be superwoman, it is easier to be transparent.

Gabes,
That's a bummer. Many of us can attest to the fact that stress brings on the demon, even when we have been enjoying good control of the MC. Here is a hug for you.
I have wondered about the APG, so it's good to have the mystery solved. You are still an APG, IMHO. Part of being powerful is the ability to show vulnerability, in my book!
Hope the flare is short-lived.
Love,
Polly

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
Hey All Powerful Goddess,
Sorry to hear about the stressful day. All that additional stress can make life pretty tough for a while, even for someone who doesn't have MC. It's doubly tough, for someone with MC, though.
I hope your car is back on the road, (or at least getting close), and your flare is settling down, again.
Hugs,
Tex

Thanks polly for the hug and Tex for your support.
its friday morning here, past weeks it has been a bit of a struggle to get out of bed and get to work on Fridays, energy levels tend to be way down. Car is fixed (woo hoo), body is about normal for a friday.
i am such an indpendent sod, i cause most of the stress on myself as i have a real issue with asking people for help!!
TK was also trying to help me but it was a bit tricky with the fact that he had an interview for a promotion that afternoon and i didnt want him in the rain near the engine of my car.
light meal tonight and early night with 12 hours of sleep/rest will fix most of it
they are predicting a weekend of rain so i think lazy weekend of reading and watching movies is justified.

Last night at 10:08 I said it was my turn to bring desert to a class at church this afternoon. I was quite fearful as I love sweets. I want everyone to know I did NOT have one single crumb, nor did I so much as lick my fingers. I ate two rice cakes I brought from home. Half of each desert was left and I took them to a dance I went to tonight and it was all eaten. I am really proud of myself.
I had a bad flare last Saturday & Sunday after having gluten on Friday night. As far as I can determine by looking at my food diary, I have been GF I would say 100% since Saturday and still have been having 3 very soft BM's a day. I am not seeing an improvement. Should I, or is it too early???
I have been on Balsalazide since February 12 when I got the DX of CC. First two weeks were 2 capsules 3X a day and then 3 capsules 3X a day. I have enough to last until 3/19 and that is about when I should get the results from EnteroLab. Then I was going to start taking the Entocort which I already have. Would you suggest I stop taking the Balsalazide and start taking the Entocort right away????? My old frugal German thinking says I can't waste them and this is dumb. I don't think they are helping me. Or am I expecting too much too soon? I lost about 5 pounds this week and can't afford to loose much more.
I quit drinking the tea that contained Aspartame on Tues. I have not had any dairy other than yogurt. On Wed. I had soy milk on cereal but bought almond milk and have been using that since then.
I am open to any suggestions.
