Tex,
When I was first diagnosed ('05) and we were struggling to find something to work, medicine wise, my GI told me I could safely take up to 9 immodium per day. Now realize that was when they were giving me Asacol, which I found out I was allergic to. At a later flare, waiting to get in to see the GI, I got up to 5 and it finally kicked in.
I have to agree with the others to start slow and work up. If I have a salad, I usually take a 1/2 of one with it because I know I will react.
After reading you other posts, I am sure glad you survived all you went through.

When I tried to remove one of the "caplets" from the packaging this morning, it broke at about the 2/3-1/3 point, so I swallowed the 2/3 portion, immediately after breakfast. We'll see what happens. I'm still not sure what a typical transit time is, to the distal ileum, (I'm sure it varies by food type, but it seems to generally be in the 10 hours or less category). I might need to be taking these closer to bedtime, instead, if I end up taking it only once a day. If it works out that I can take half in the morning, and half at night, that would probably be good deal, but I'm more concerned about minimizing "maintenance" during the night, than during the day, obviously.
Thanks.
Love,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
