Thanks Tex,
I do feel better with potatoes added back in and I have already gained the weight back. I know I am on the right road with the grain free, dairy free, and fructose free diet. 4 years ago I was eating everything and trying meds which didn't work and I was taking 4 imodium a day but still having occasional accidents. I am now limiting my diet and only taking 1 imodium a day (1/2 am, 1/2 pm) and no accidents. Of course now that I said that I will probably have an accident. LOL One thing that I feel is helping is the addition of the probiotic. I have always felt that I needed one and tried many. I guess that is the positive thing that happened from going on the SCD diet. I discovered the Scdophilus probiotic. It has nothing added. No dairy, no prebiotic, nothing. Just acidophilus. I really have a gut feeling ( pun intended) that probiotics may be the key. I think Elaine Gottschall was correct about some things. I just can't do it the same way she recommends.
Theresa,
Sorry it didn't work for you either. Dairy gives me reflux too. I was really getting weak and tired. We're gonna figure this out. Just keep trying!

Marcia,
Sorry for the confusion. SCD stands for Specific Carbohydrate Diet, as developed by Elaine Gottschall, and explained in her book, Breaking the Vicious Cycle.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
