I ate at Outback on Saturday, right after we arrived in Utah. I cooked my own rice at home and put it in my suitcase (warm).
I ordered the GF lamb rack with no seasoning other than salt and plain, steamed broccoli. I asked the waiter to heat my rice in the microwave, and he did. So all I ate from them was lamb and broccoli. I drank water with my meal.
I had a problem that evening and the next morning. Sigh. I suspect it was the broccoli because I ate the leftover lamb for lunch yesterday and Norman returned by evening.
I haven't been eating broccoli because I scored borderline non-reactive on the MRT test, but Outback didn't offer any of my three safe vegetables. I used to be able to eat broccoli without a problem, but maybe it's another intolerance. Makes me sad because I've been hoping I could add another vegetable to my safe list.

Hi Gloria,
I would give the broccoli another try. It may have been contaminated from the pan or utensils used. I have even seen kitchen staff pick up food in their hands to transfer onto plates - even if gloved, the person could have been cutting bread before, for example. Sure hope it won't be long before you can add in more veggies - I would miss them too.
Hugs,
Polly

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
Also, some procedures are "automatic", (that is, done by default), at chain restaurants. In some of them, for example, the potatoes are all treated with butter, first thing in the morning, and then they're baked as needed. It's possible that the broccoli may have been treated that way, and someone forgot about it, and used it anyway.
As Polly says, I'd try cooking some broccoli myself, before scratching it off my list. As far as that goes, I wouldn't let a restaurant experience rule out any food for me, (except, of course, that a bad experience would certainly rule out ordering that item at that restaurant ever again). The chances of accidental contamination at a restaurant are far too high, to use them as a gauge for determining food sensitivities, IMO.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
