I don't know, Sondra. I rarely have any pain with the gas, frankly. But I suspect that if you have pain on the right radiating to the back that may be gallblader-related. Somehow I have managed to keep mine, though both my father and my brother have had theirs taken out. I don't know about my mother.

Thanks so much for your reply. The pains are not severe but annoying. I don't have the common pain on the right that radiates to my back but rather gas build up under both ribs at times and in my back under should blades. Drs. say it is IBS. That of course was before the colitis dx. I have heard so many people say that my symptoms do go along with gallbladder but I am trying to see if I can get this resolved through diet as I would rather not have my gallbladder removed.
