Hi Soli,
I was just like you...had never been put out for anything! I have an anxiety disorder and I fretted and fretted over it so bad that I know it just exacerbated my D. I feared everything from the prep to waking up in the middle of the procedure but OMG....that Propofol is the bomb! The anesthesiologist told me "go to Jamiaca" and I did....lol...I was gone! And I woke up refreshed and very relaxed...no nausea or anything, just a great feeling. I remember telling my husband "oh, you need to have this done, it's wonderful". lol..yep still had some propofol in me. But no effects from it whatsoever.
The prep is the worst and it does help to drink through a straw. I was nauseous all the time anyway so drinking 8 ounces of nastiness every so many minutes was no fun...I'm really bad about drinking anything that tastes bad. I even added some lemonade crystal light to it which probably was a big no no but was the only way I was going to get it down. So the drink is the worst and all the D you get...well heck I was used to that anyway so no big deal...but you'll need those moist wipes for sure.
So please try not to worry...I would love to go under like that again...but wishing we could just bypass the drink is all. Procedure is a piece of cake and they pampered me in the hospital so was very nice.
Good luck and please don't worry!
Terri

I've had colonoscopies before, 3 I think, when I was seeing an internal medicine doctor. He is the one who diagnosed my CC. He has moved so my primary care doctor wanted me to see a gastro Dr. especially since I am in the midst of a month long flare. Tomorrow is clean out and Thursday is an endoscope and a colonoscopy. Not afraid of the scopes just hate the clean out, but this too shall pass :)
