Naty and All:

I have been drinking coconut milk. What is the difference between the milk and the oil?

Naty, I would go with the one with the highest calorie count.

I have found some of the brands to be very thick (almost too thick).

I would choose either the Holland and Barrett or the Coconoil (the middle two of the four you listed). I base that on the shape of the bottles. Coconut oil is solid at under 76 degrees F-- I don't know what that is in C-- and so you want it in a wide-mouth bottle or tub.

Since you are in uni, you probably don't do your own cooking, so you'll need to find some way to eat the coconut oil. I use it for frying, stir-frying, cooking eggs, etc. Someone on this forum adds coconut oil to tea, which might be easier for you. I have a friend who uses virgin, cold-pressed coconut oil in place of butter on bread, vegetables, etc.

You can also eat grated coconut, which is easy to sprinkle on fruit or cereal, or just eat plain like a snack. It would still give you the calories.

Coconut milk is usually made by pouring hot water on grated coconut, and squeezing it to get out the essence, and I presume, some of the oil, of the coconut.

I'm presuming then at American universities the students have catering then? Because in the UK it is all self catered (well the majority is)

But yeah I was thinking the middle 2 myself, thanks for the advice.

Naty most universities are catered (usually awful industrial food), but you can get on campus housing with a kitchen. Also may choose to live off campus in a rented apartment or house. My son is on campus housing that has a kitchen and he cooks most of his own food.

Naty,

The coconut milk seems to be agreeing with me. Which is nice, because it is a great substitute for dairy milk. The SoDelicious brand that I have been getting to use with cereal has guar gum but I am still OK with it, so far. FYI.
