I'm taking Bactrim, Tex, and don't take any other prescription meds. The BP thing has come up at my last 3 OV's w/my MD. This is new to me, feels almost like the description of tachycardia, more often in the morning than at night. Don't think it has anything to do w/caffeine or being "scared" of the doctor, but I can feel it when it's happening. One more thing to research

Maybe you're allergic to sulfa drugs - a lot of people are. Bactrtim, (Co-trimoxazole), is a combination of trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole, which, of course, is a sulfa drug.

I hear you - I had a few episodes of tachycardia for a few days, a few months ago, apparently in connection with a thyroid issues, and it can certainly grab your attention.

Thanks, Tex. I have never had a problem with any sulfa drugs, the only antibiotic I ever had a problem with was Velosef, which isn't a sulfa. My DH just checked my BP and respirations and it's all w/in normal right now. Yeah, it really can grab your attention, it feels like you're on speed.

I just read the list of side effects of Bactrim and I have several, D, dizziness, spinning sensation and insomnia. At 1:30 am I had such horrible heartburn that I gave up and got out of bed, took some Pepto and about 15 min. later almost fainted, I wrote it off as being the Pepto but......So turned the heat on in our guest room and went to watch TV and try to sleep in there, was still awake at 5 then must have gone to sleep shortly after, waking at 8:30 and not feeling tired. 5 pills down - 1 to go, a little late to quit taking it now.

It doesn't matter if you never had a problem with sulfa. It just pops up and hits you when you least expect it. My MC started after a bad reaction to Bactrim, switched to another anti-biotic and the dastardly D started. That is how my MC began. I had "colitis" all my life but nothing like MC.

I am going to try the L glutamine. Very stressful here. My DH died last week after going through 9 weeks of chemo, 10 weeks after his diagnosis of mesothelioma. I'm surprised and relieved that I haven't had a bad flare, just feel lousy a lot of the time. I think the entocort saved me a lot of pain. When I started to feel bloated, sick to my stomach, multiple BMs I just took another entocort for that day and stopped the problem quickly. I honestly think that our bodies "know" when it is time to "behave", as in a crisis when you can't be sick no matter what. When the crisis has passed the body relaxes and the old symptoms pop up again. I'm waiting for that to happen and it has not. Not reacting to such stress is a first for me. BTW. there was no gluten free food available for visitors in the hospital where my DH was a patient and I had to either bring my own food or go hungry. Stupid, IMO.

Sheila,

I'm so sorry to hear such sad news. I certainly hope that you can avoid a full flare of symptoms.

We would love to send you flowers, on behalf of all the members of this board, if you care to PM or e-mail me your delivery address and phone number, (needed for the delivery service), but if you would rather not, I certainly understand.

With my deepest sympathy,
Tex

Sheila,
Words can't express how sorry I am to hear about your DH. It's true that sometimes we can be calm under the most stressful conditions, I hope you can continue to manage the stress.

Sheila - so sorry for your loss - you sound so brave in the way you're handling everything, and it's good to hear that your MC has been behaving. Please don't hesitate to come on here when you need to vent!!!

Connie - you sure are going through a rough patch - wish I had some knowledge about your issues so I could be of help. Aren't we fortunate to have Tex with his wealth of information and support?

Love,
Kari

P.S. Sending both of you best wishes that everything will get better with time.

Thank you, all. Val is the second husband I have lost to cancer. It is not something I want to do ever again. I would vent but I'm too tired to get mad again.

Tex, I don't know how to send a separate e-mail or private message. Duh! Flowers are lovely but people trying to deal with end-stage cancer could not do it without Hospice. If you care to, send a donation to any Hospice in the amount you would have spent on flowers. Thank you.

This board was quite literally a life saver for me when I was diagnosed with CC. I would not have known about the Entero Lab or the test for celiac or entocort and so many other necessities. Every question was answered intelligently and I'm sure I'll be back with some new ones before long.
