ROTFL Hello Courtney:

Your discription of you art work technique has just brought a smile to my face and made me laugh.

When it comes to young children who cares what it looks like as long as they have fun.

My oldest grandson who is now 16 going on 17 Brett. Anyhooooo, when he was in Kindergarten my husband and I picked him up from school. I remember him getting into the van and in his hand was a piece of paper with a house and a window in the house. Inside the window was glued a penny with the face of President Lincoln up so it looked like he was looking out the window. There was all this glue all over the house. So I asked Brett, did something fall off here where all this glue is? "No Gramma, I was hungry and I ate all the pretzels!" LOL
I just love little ones even when they've grown so much more taller than me.

I worked in a small public library in NE. My favorite spot, by far, was the children's room. I was an elementary school teacher first. This library was so small that even the student pages were "librarians."

I had the most wonderful children's lit teacher at Ohio State. She was one of the most outstanding teachers I ever had.

You'll love this story. When I went to the library in Montgomery, it was a tiny store front room. I asked the librarian where the card catalogue was. She said they didn't have one but she knew all the books!

Isn't children's lit wonderful? I did my MLIS internship and my official library job in large libraries, both in Youth Services, but I've always been attracted to small libraries as well because it seems like you get more variety. I'm working on a master's degree in children's lit and American lit right now, and teaching English 101 to first-year students. I know that when I was working in the library, our YS page was a very valuable person who always knew where to find books! It's especially fun when people come in and say something like, "I read this book twenty years ago. There was a dog and it had a red cover. Can you help me find it?" And the really scary part is when you know exactly which book they're talking about....

I couldn't find a photo of the library turned house. It was a neat little bi-level thing across from a Park and in a neighborhood with houses only.

It also had asbestos removal by the guys in white suits. Scary.
