They probably do that for good reason. If a patient doesn't take enough, and doesn't get cleaned out well enough for a good, clear colonoscopy exam, the claim will be, "You didn't follow orders"! If a patient takes it all, and ends up with intestinal damage, MC, etc., the claim will be, "You should have known better than that - that was enough prep solution to clean out an elephant!"

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
At one point the whole family saw a pediatrician.. we had moved to a new area and the only doctor we all liked was the pediatrician... so he saw us all..:)

Speaking of dosages--when I was in the hospital in 2008 a month after an appendectomy with uncontrollable D, extreme weight loss, and massive dehydration (they poked me for an hour before they got an IV in); they gave me the traditional FLEET colonoscopy prep. In the middle of the night, I called the nurse and told her I thought I was dying. She just patted me on the hand and told me I was fine. I really made my peace with God that night because I was sure I would not last until morning. Well, I ended up having severe c. diff., and spending the next week in the hospital. Imagine my surprise when, months later as I was preparing for the colonoscopy which would diagnose my MC, I was told that the FLEET products had been taken off the market due to a number of deaths. It still makes me shiver.
