New and needing help!
Hello all! What a wonderful site! I got diagnosed with collagenous colitis as a child, I am now a 30 year old woman who is still fighting against the illness. I can't seem to keep ANY weight on..even when I am not having problems with frequent bathroom trips. I currently weigh around 90 pounds and am humiliated that I look so horrible and skinny. Is anyone else having this problem...not able to absorb anything? Does anyone have any suggestions or a diet that they follow that might be helpful?
Thanks, Kelly
Thanks, Kelly
Tex will be along soon, I'm certain.

Hi Kelly. Welcome.
I also have similar problems. I have lost 15 pounds in the last 6 months and now I am hovering aroun 97 lbs. I just ordered tests from enterolab and I am waiting to get my test kit. I am going to be tested for gluten, casein, soy, eggs and yeast.
I am 33, so we are close to the same age. The people here are great. I have found a lot of answers here.

Hi Kelly,
Welcome to our internet family. Yes, as the others said, weight issues are common with this disease.
The big questions are: Are you in remission, and what type of treatment program are you following?
I have to go back to work for a few hours, but I'll be back later, to check for more details.
Again, welcome aboard,
Tex (Wayne)

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Just want to welcome you to our "home" and hope you feel very much "at home" here.
I definitely don't have the weight loss problem. I have the other extreme.....
Well, enough of that.
Please post and ask questions as you happen to think of them. We have all pretty much been through the same things.

Welcome Kelly,
You have landed in the right home here and we are just a great family and we have all been through many aspects of this disease from weight loss to weight gain.
Spend your time looking around the site and you will gain a wealth of knowledge on how to handle the disease. You have been dealing with this so very long and diet seems to be the key for many of us.

I just re-read your post and I'm amazed that you got a diagnosis of CC so long ago. You must have had a doctor who was ahead of his peers in accepting, much less finding Microscopic Colitis.
I'm curious what you might have been told about the disease at that point.

Welcome Kelly
I recently joined. I have not been suffering as long as you. Started symptoms a year ago and was diagnosed MC last November. But I did loose a lot of weight June to November last year and people I knew started to talk about it. After November when I went onto pepto bismal and started to absorb food again I gained some weight back. Do not know if this is useful, everyone is different, but thought I would share anyway.
