Kidney followup

I had my follow-up at the urologist today...................

The sample taken from my bladder came back clear and non-cancerous cells.
Unknown why or what is causing the pain. It is nearly gone now and not nearly as painful as it was a few weeks ago.

His dx is as follows

He thinks that I have "possibly" the following things going on:

1. kidney stones that have either settled down or have passed. I had scar tissue from previous stones that I was unaware that I had when they removed the last stone.

2. kidney spasms

3. inflammation of the kidney (referring to the inflammation with colitis) - could be my body just doesn't like itself! LOL

4. His last resort is to either wait it out and see what happens or go in and do an exploratory and then insert a stint to stretch the tube and see if that helps. That is a 50/50 help to the problem though. His gut tells him that it's either spasms or inflammation.

He gave me another rx for vicodine to be used if it gets so severe again and scheduled a follow-up in 6 months. Of course, if it gets bad again, he is always there!

OK - so now it's just "hurry up and wait" lol I am doing better though so that's a plus and I voted to NOT do the exploring since there is no need to right now!

I'm glad your test came back normal and the pain is reduced. I think I would have waited on the exploratory surgery, too.

Hope you remain stabilized.

WoW, Mars, I'm glad they didn't find anything and that the pain is better, but I think you'd sure like to find out the cause......... I know I would if it were me.

That sounds pretty encouraging. I have to admit that cancer had crossed my mind - so I'm glad to "hear" that it was ruled out. I would have made exactly the same choice that you made, I believe.

Thank heavens the tests came back good and glad to hear the pain is subsiding for you. I also would have just passed on the exploratory surgery. Be prudent on those Vicodyne.

Hi Mars Bar,

A wise choice, I think. Especially if you think you are starting to improve. Does this mean there is no longer any blood in your urine?

Keep on feeling better. You really do seem to have constant inflammation somewhere, don't you?

Are the eyes OK now?

Eyes seem to be doing well, thanks for asking! Allergy things going on but other than that they seem ok.

They didn't check the blood in the urine but I'm going to request it when I see my family doc on the 20th.

I agree, there seems to be something always going on with me! I'm gonna adopt Barbara's phrase and just say
