Hi all,
Prometheus Labs has recently announced that they are now offering a mail in test kit for gene tests, to determine genetic predisposition to celiac disease. They're advertising it as "the first do it yourself saliva-based genetic test dedicated
to celiac disease". That sounds neat, but what it really means is that these tests will only look for the two most common celiac genes, (DQ2 and DQ8). They will not detect any of the additional DQ1 genes that predispose to non-celiac gluten sensitivity.
The gene test offered by Enterolab, of course, includes detecting the presence of those DQ2 and DQ8 genes, plus any known DQ1 genes that predispose to gluten sensitivity. Since Prometheus is pricing their test at $329.00, that makes the Enterolab test, (at $149.00), quite a bargain, by comparison. The customer gets a lot more data from Enterolab, for less than half the price. It doesn't get much better than that, does it.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
