From your post about Geoff's job, it sounds like you are a fishing fan so I'll tell you the story about Geoff's nice trout he caught last night.
He had 2 nice ones (12 and 14 inches). He was going to bring them home for his parents (neither he or I or big fans of fish for food). When he went to pull his stringer out of the water, it felt heavy for only having 2 fish on it. Turns out a good sized turtle had come up and was munching on his fish! Needless to say, his parents aren't having fresh trout for dinner tonight, but there is a well fed turtle up in Quechee, Vermont!
Hahahahahaha. I can visualize the expression on Geoff's face, cause that's happened to me a time or two. It's kind of tough to properly appreciate turtles right after something like that has happened. I've been known to mumble a few unprintable words on their behalf. LOL.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
The pond at the old house had snapping turtles in it that were so large they could not fit in one of those big aluminum trash cans. Found that out when we went to take one to the large lake in our area.
No fish is good fish.

We lived out in the sticks in Rochester, MN, and had a pond and creek as well as woods in our back yard. Occassionally when the turtles would hatch, they'd wander the wrong way, and end up on our driveway or cul-de-sac.. they are SO ADORABLE when they're tiny little babies.
I'd take 'em in and make 'em a home with a plastic container and some water and a rock to sit on and feed them. I had one for quite awhile.. used to race 'em in the basement. Snappers are quick!!!! Then I'd give 'em to the pond..
Everyone I tell this to says I'm nuts for keeping snappers but hey, you treat them nice, they treat you nice..
