Dizziness?
Anyone have persistent dizziness while changing diet/meds? I have an appt. with my primary tomorrow, since I'm guessing it's inner ear problem, but was curious if it could be related to MC.
Hi Kara,
I occasionally had days when I would try to get out of bed in the morning, and I would be so dizzy that the room would be swirling. Usually, though, I could lay back down, and in 15 or 20 minutes it would pretty much go away. Once in a while, it would be more persistent, but not very often.
Most frequently, dizziness, (vertigo), is a sign of a neurological side effect, (an adverse reaction), of a drug. Entocort, in particular, seems to affect a few of us that way, and when that happens, it is usually persistent, but it is sometimes dose-related, and will diminish at a lower dose. In most cases, though, the drug must be discontinued, in order to stop the symptoms. Often, when vertigo is present, because of a drug, blurred vision, confusion, and possibly other neurological side effects may be noticed, also.
A few of us do have inner ear-related vertigo, but it's difficult to say if it is MC related, or not.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Kara----I never Xperienced any dizziness----but as been said a zillion times--we all react differently to meds.
The best is to have it checked out and lets trust that something can give U an answer--

I Have dizziness often anymore, But mine is Meniers. It effects my left ear more than the right. My SIL has it too. Also Sinus Infections can cause ears to fill with fluid and mess up the inner ear and balance.

Morning Kara,
Not sure what meds you are taking but I had extreme dizziness on Entocort and had to quit it. They at first suspected Meniers disease but ruled it out. However, I think that might still be the culprit.
Good luck at the docs.
Love, Maggie

How about "ear rocks" or Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo? It's little crystals that dislodge and float around in the inner ear, causing dizziness. I don't think it has anything to do with meds, but just crops up. Mostly in older folks (like me) but I suppose it could happen in younger folks (like you).

Kara,
Here's another possibility: Are you taking Imodium? I believe that it is very rare for Imodium to cause vertigo, but it has that effect on me. At one caplet per day, the effect is very slight, and it's only a minor problem, but if I increase the dosage to one and a half caplet per day, it makes me very dizzy, all the time, day and night. I stopped taking it, and the problem went away.

I am always dizzy. For 2 reasons. the first is the meds. Just not used to them its a side effect. The 2nd is dehydration. It seems to hit me so fast with the vomiting and bowel movements i have so i'll get dizzy and that leasts to me flling or passing out.
