I have not posted in over a month, but have been doing quite a bit of research and reading on GF lifestyle. During my research I found out that eczema can be triggered by dairy/gluten sensitivities. My 12 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with eczema (I think she has had it all her life now that I think about it). Anyway, she can't seem to keep her skin (has it mainly on her face and ear) cleared up for more than 3 days without her medications. I have decided that during the summer I will have her go on a 6 week trial of a GF/dairy free diet to find out which one is causing her flare ups. She is not very happy about this, but is willing to give it a try.
I have a doctors appt with a new GI on April 7. I hope he can give me more direction than my previous GI. I have ordered my tests from Enterolab. Once I have the results I will post them. I am so ready to feel better.
My husband's ex-wife was diagnosed as a celiac years ago, and has been very helpful with information on GF products, eating out, etc. I know it is weird, but we get along great. As a matter of fact, we are taking the kids and grandson on a family vacation to Branson with her and her husband in June.
Til next time!

Hi Romanita,
It's good to see a post from you again, and I'm glad to see that you have the Enterolab tests ordered. If you could afford the extra expense, ordering a test kit for your daughter, (for gluten and casein), would probably be more appealing to her than a diet trial, but a trial such as you describe, should certainly get the job done, if she faithfully follows the diet.
That's awesome that you, (and presumably your husband), get along so well with his ex. That has to make life much more pleasant, (and having a good consultant on the GF diet, is definitely a bonus, especially when traveling and eating out.
We'll be looking forward to seeing your test results, and good luck with your appointment with the new GI doc.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I may just do that, especially if the test results come back positive for me having one of the genes to pass on.
I will certainly post something after my visit with my doc. I should be getting results back in about 3 weeks, so I will post them when I get them......I HATE WAITING!!!!!!!
