just want to put a gabe's pondering out there

:bigbighug:

i realised today that had i not got MC, I would have never got the chance to meet all these wonderful, totally awesome people, and be part of this warm, amazing, loving family

:fam29:

quick update :banghead:
health - still doing 3 - 4 BM's per day. had 11 hour sleep last night and woke up and felt 'blah' sore throat, lethargic.
I had originally planned to go and visit friends who live near where i want to move to. it is a 2.5 hr drive each way and given i dont feel 100% i decided not to go
spent the morning making my stocks, stewed meat for lunches for the week etc.
did a bit of work in the yard and then this afternoon had a 2 hour nap.

Career
job 1 external company had interview last week, they said they have one more interview to do and will have an outcome next week

job 2 with current company, have interview in 1.5 weeks

like the MC management thing, patience and diligence is key to my sanity (and giggling about olivia with her depends under the cammo's he he he

Gabes,

I've also had some blessings from getting sick . . . . it's always good to look for the silver lining.

It looks like you are just avoiding lactose - have you tried giving up casein completely? What about soy/legumes - I don't see it mentioned. I have also found that tapioca (aka manioc, cassava, yucca) induces D in the same way gluten does. My son reacts very badly to corn and will have accidents from it. It seems like you are still reacting to something. I think healing takes a while, but a few days ago you described an accident . . . I only had those when I was still eating reactive food. Now if I eat too much fiber I might have looser stools or more frequent stools, but I am able to hold it. Have you done Enterolab testing? I know Ant sent a sample from Hong Kong so I am assuming you could do the same from Australia.

Hope you feel better soon.

Gabes,
I can't understand why you are still having so much D every day. Have you tried only eating white rice, boiled chicken and bananas. Nothing else. That is what I started out with in January and early February. It helped me, but then everyone is different.

I am doing so well since being DX'd mid February. Was not GF until early March, and now I have one normal BM after morning coffee. Have gained back a few pounds. I am on 6 Balsalazide a day. Will start with 5 a day next week.

Charlotte,
Had to look up Balsalazide... wondered why I had never tried it... turns out if you can't tolerate aspirin you can't use it.

Glad to hear you are doing better... so many cases of the same illness and so many solutions...

Mary Beth and Charlotte

I have been eating a very plain diet for past 5 weeks
gooey rice, sweet potato (yam) chicken or stewed meat or salmon
clear juice,
GF/YF/LF savoury muffins with sweet potato no soy
or i have converted this to a crepe mix to have with a poached egg
coffee with small amount of LF milk
small amount of jelly post meals to settle

thats it, no new ingredients for at least 2 weeks.
i do the stewed meat from scratch, hormone free, boil up meat with meat bones to get the gelatin etc

unfortunately.... i have been allergic to banana's since i was a baby. i cant even be in meeting rooms with people eating them.

The D has stopped, i just do 3 - 4 BM's each day, mid size diameter, there is a bit of cramping before hand and painful to pass, and very short notice, there is pain and then i get about 1 minute to get to the toilet.

I have tried days of no dairy, i dont notice any difference so i dont think the caesin is an issue
i suspected the soy so i have eliminated this and have determined i can only have small amount of soy.
so i am now making my own muffin/crepe mix from scratch as the pre-prepared one had whey and soy

i think part of it is my body reacting to situations at work.
and another consideration based on discussion wth my naturopath we are pondering if my body is in a deeper stage of detox, the temp changes, the BM's.

i am listening to my body, resting when i need to rest.

Hi Gabes

Just a thought......given that you are still having some bad days, if I were you I would test getting off eggs and the GF/DF/LF free muffins and milk for a month or so and see if things improve. I have not eaten eggs or any muffin or milk substitute for over 5 months. One day when I feel in full remission I may try some rice milk again, but not yet. Meanwhile the only 'flour' ingredient I trust 'Pure water chestnut flour'.

Wishing you all the best, Ant

Gabes,

Yams/sweet potatoes contain lots of fiber and could be irritating. They actually bother me quite a bit. What is clear juice?? Apple juice? Juice could be a problem as well. I second Ant's recommendation for no dairy or eggs for now. What kinds of grains/ingredients are in the muffins? Another thought is sugar in the muffins and jelly could be causing a problem. Are there onions in the stewed meat? If you use a broth for the meat look at the ingredients.

You could develop new sensitivities (tolerated something before but not now). I initially did OK with dairy and soy but problems got worse over time.

Hope you figure it out soon and get to feeling better.

Dear Gabes

When I need a work snack it is rice cakes and quality (i.e. organic and not injected) ham or crabmeat/shrimps.....or just the rice cake sometimes

Funny how some can eat rice cakes and I can't tolerate them easily ... even on entocort. If I eat more than 2, my tummy bloats like a balloon.

Morning All,

Gabes I do hope you are feeling better than the other day. I too have been allergic to bannanas my whole life and can't even tolerate the smell.

Love, Maggie

P.S. - God bless the wonderful side effects of MC - our family here.

Gabes, my experience has been along the same line as Ant. I did really well and got off of Entocort and then BAM it was back. I have eliminated all "flour" products and only use pure rice cakes (the first ones I looked at had soy and wheat  ). I've stuck to meats, veggies and fruits but still use SF & DF butter. My weight loss is an issue but I have resolved that is the way it is going to be to feel better. I also have BM's like you.....the very first thing in the AM and discomfort and then head for the bathroom. Fortunately it is only once a day at this point. I have now been 5+ months at GF/DF/SF/EF and feel it is just going to take time.

I have a stressful job as well and hate taking meds, but I also have decided, in order to function, I will take what is available and pray for the future when things will be totally better. You are on the right track! Ginny

thanks everybody for the support and suggestions

i have figured a few tihngs...
when i had ibs, if i didnt get 8 - 9 hours sleep i would get constipated
now with Mc, if i dont get 8 -9 hours sleep i get D

i think it is things in small quanitities, not too many eggs, not too much sweet potato,
found one ingredient i was using said it had sulphates (didnt notice that before) so sulphates and yeast are totally banned

take min amt of the meds to ensure body is ok, and i get good sleep and not stressed at work.

i am feeling better, i had got lots of chores done on the weekend, got lots of nanna naps and slept well of a night.
feeling good today (it is tues morning) it is a four day work week so that is enthusing..
