What other problems do you have from this disease

Post by crystal552000 »

Along with my D which is everyday between 7-9 times and then I have days where its about 15 times a day. But beyond that I have severe joint pain in my back as well as in my shoulders and my wrist and fingers. I get these horrible headaches, my blood pressure will spike on my bad days. I am constantly tired it doesn't matter what I do I wake up tired and in pain. My stomach changes between a sharp stabbing pain to this dull pain like when you go into labor that kind of feeling. I also have a burning feeling and my stomach will swell up like im 9 months pregnant, I have had people ask what im having while out in public and it is embarrasing somedays. I have days my eys burn, and my skin itches all over the place. Just wanted to know if you all have experienced this and if all of this is caused by the cc

Crystal your symptoms sound very familiar. I have had the eye, lower back, fatigue and joint pain on and off for the past 10 years and the D for the past 6 months. I also had a complete lack of appetite for the month of April with occasional nausea. It was only after the D started that the doctors were able to make the diagnosis.

I am now taking the Entocort 9mg/day for 8 weeks and with the help of Tex and many others on this site learning about the dietary aspect of this disease. I hope to be off the steroids soon and hopefully control this through diet alone.

Best Wishes

Hi Crystal,

Yes, as Joe mentioned, many/most of us, (though not all of us), have most, or all of those symptoms, and many of us have additional symptoms as well. My symptoms made me feel as if I had a severe case of the flu. When I would get out of bed in the morning, I felt as though I had been hit by a truck, during the night.

MC can affect virtually any organ in the body, especially when food sensitivities are involved. The severe bloating, for example, is almost surely a sign that you are gluten-sensitive. For those of us who are gluten-sensitive, gluten can cross the blood/brain barrier, and cause all sorts of neurological issues, in addition to the digestive system symptoms. I had arthritis so bad that a couple of my fingers grew crooked and twisted, before I figured out what was wrong. After I cut gluten out of my diet, the arthritis went away, and hasn't returned. Skin problems/rashes are very common with MC, as are things such as mouth sores, etc.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

when i am in mild flare, i get itchy skin, aches in my hip joints and knees and very very tired.
i have struggled with lethargy for the past 5 years it had been gradually getting worse, and i now find that i have to have a minimum of 8 hours sleep a night (more if i am in minor flare)

due to the gluten in the lipstick situation of a couple of weeks ago my lips are badly chaffed and itchy still.

Redbridge beer is GF, Olivia. Don't know about availability. I'm sure there are others. In fact, I read about a brand new one today, I just can't remember where.

Hi Crystal,

Yes, I've had all of the symptoms you describe. I was sick and in pain for over 15 years and was tested for every possible disease and all were negative. My medical record still shows that I had RA, Fibro, and Psoriasis and I'm trying to get that changed. I also had frequent UTI's and staph infections and was pretty depressed.

I went GF last August, by the time I was dx with MC in Oct. most of my body pain and other symptoms were already gone. Genetic tests show I have GS. I am one of those here who have successfully treated my symptoms w/o drugs. Since Dec. I have had only 1 or 2 small flares, the last being during last week when I was so stressed out and over tired. Lasted half a day.

Best description I ever got from my old Naturopath was to envision a small tank inside your body that collects all the bad stuff, the toxins, the allergens. Once that tank is full - it starts to overflow - that's when your immune system is compromised and you are susceptible to all these other things.

Welcome to the site, Crystal, I haven't read through all the posts I've missed since I was working non-stop for the past 2 wks, but I will catch up and hope to learn more about you.
