Unexpected find
I love the unexpected king, gopher, racer's and even the rattlesnakes (with a healthy dose of RESPECT of course) Walking at lunch I came accross this guy, a real gem.

Gabes,
Yes, rattlesnakes are most definitely poisonous, but that's not a rattler in the picture.
Dan,
Neat! Thanks for sharing - I've never seen one of those before.
Izzat a Mexican Kingsnake, or what?
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
this would be a Lampropeltis g. californiae (California Kingsnake) Fairly common although not often seen. They prey on rattlesnakes and other reptiles and frogs, and I imagine they get their share of mice rats and gophers too. I mostly have seen them black and white.

Beautiful photo. I love woodpeckers and flickers, maybe becuase they always seem to be working. I guess I wouldn't love them to be working on my house! My neighbor has an ongoing battle with a persistent flicker, it is funny (to me, not to him) because I hear him talking to himself and yelling at the bird ~ quite entertaining and comical
