Mary Beth,
Sorry, but the cigar goes to Gabes on this one.

Thanks for posting it here, though, because not everyone bothers to read the news items.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Thanks for posting, Gabes and Mary Beth.
My initial thought is....that's all well and good for gluten, but what about all of us with multiple intolerances? I am inclined to put my faith in Dr. Fasano's pill, which would appear to work more generically i.e. would counteract zonulin and therefore close those gates in the gut, hopefully preventing any offending peptides from entering the body and setting off the antibody response.
Love,
Polly

you summed up my night - it was a key story on the national news here, i had three people text me with messages along the line of 'great for you' 'is this a cure' and i was like mmmmmm so some drug (?) is going to allow me to digest gluten, what about the issues with dairy, yeast, soy, fruit, raw veges and salad???
the drug (?) is at least 7 years away. kinda not willing to get excited about that.
as i said in the other post, i am very happy that gluten intollerance and the scientific reason for it is getting some media and research dollars and as Tex mentioned it has taken them 10 years to have these advances re gluten related peptides.

Its amazing that news of this health importance did not even show up in the main stream media here. I usually watch a few of the main networks nightly news broadcasts and it was either not covered or I missed it. It certainly was not on the CNN, CBS or Fox news websites.
Thanks for posting the link even it does not mean a treatment anytime soon a least there is some progress. Overall the research looks promising
