Tracking is of various types now and your information is scattered all over the place. Not planning to do much about it myself.. much too late to bother.. but it is interesting. Supposedly this will help avoid the tracking but takes a lot of work..

Yep, we are generally pretty vulnerable to record-keeping logs on the web. One of the things that I really like about Firefox, is the ability to set up custom history handling, so that not only are all third-party cookies declined automatically, but all cookies are deleted, each time I close the browser. I'm sure a lot of information goes out, as long as a browser is open, but at least they have to start over with their information collecting, each time I open it, which probably eliminates a lot of trash collection on my computers.

Another thing not mentioned by the articles, is the fact that search engines, (such as Google, for example), keep a complete log of all your internet search activities, and those records are apparently kept forever. It's possible that this may be a government requirement, (homeland security, doncha know), but I'm not sure about that. I do know that the government uses those records, so I'm guessing that maintaining them is government-mandated.

One of the two articles mentioned someone searching about a medical condition she later learned she didn't have. The problem for younger folks than me.. is that such searches.. once integrated with all of our medical histories (government mandated) could prevent them from getting either insurance or care that might be costly. At my age.. I know I am targeted for reduced care...sigh..

Surely you jest. Thanks to our new administration, we now have health care reform - remember? :4julygirllwavingflag: :millianlaugh:
