Hi Barbara, 11/60 really is not that low but for you it may be. Many factors may influence that reading and BP does vary throughout the day. My BP tends to be 118 / 68 on average but it can vary +/- 20 points on the systolic (first number). When your BP was taken was it while you were sitting or standing as that also affects that reading somewhat.

Overall I would not be too concerned unless you are having other symptoms such as shortness of breath or abnormal fatigue. Certainly you may want to measure it again a few times for your own comfort. My guess is that it will return to your normal range.

Mrs. Columbo,

I get those all the time, (since I've been taking BP meds). I think my lowest reading was 98/56. The ideal level is supposedly around 115/75. Mine was 111/64 yesterday morning, and 114/68 this morning, but I'm drinking a heck of a lot of water these days, due to the heat, which tends to increase my BP, of course.

The question is - what is your normal reading? We are all different, you know. Your reading is somewhat low for someone your age, (assuming that you're not taking BP meds, or some other med that affects BP), but it may just mean that you are exceptionally healthy.

Generally, our systolic pressure, (the first number), goes up as we get older, and the gap between our systolic and diastolic pressures gets wider, (IOW, our diastolic pressure tends to decline, relative to our systolic pressure).

Is it hot up there in Noo Yawk? Are you drinking plenty of liquids? Are you getting enough salt? Dehydration can cause low BP, because blood volume fluctuates with the amount of water and salt in our body. If you are dehydrated, your blood volume decreases along with the volume of water everywhere else in your body, which causes your BP to decline.

Galahad

I was at the doctor today and BP was 130/ ??. I said that's not right. So she took it again it was 106/62. I said that is still higher than normal but I'll take it.

thanks Joe--Galahad and Charlotte==

The week before L. and I went for our 4 month check at Kozin---
My pressure there was 130/80==and I was pleased with that--( before Kozin came into the room I laid myself down on the table and did my meditation--to scare off the WHITE coat syndrom~~

Galahad--our weather here has been horrific--hot--muggy and plain *yuck* but I do keep hydrated---along with a *small* teensey weensey cup of peanut butter ice cream---using a very big spoon to scoop
I do keep hydrated yet could be maybe not enuf??? and yes-I do take BP meds--

I felt fine---nothing was bothering me???

And Joe---at GP he takes pressure sitting up and lying down
At thyroid I was sitting up---hmmm now I am wondering if being off the thyroid meds could have been the cause??
As a matter of fact I have become very active and got back to my Xercizing~~/???

Well whatever--thyroid dr. didnt seem to think it a *concern~~~

Thanks for your inputs!!!!

Morning Barbara,

I know I have a heart condition and constant low BP but your reading is not that low. Mine as a normal runs 100 over 58-60. They always tell me I am the lowest they have.

Not to worry.

Love, Maggie

Barbara,

I don't know about the medication you were taking for hyperthyroidism, (I don't even remember what it was), but I do know that hyperthyroidism itself tends to cause high blood pressure.

Exercise, on the other hand, lowers BP, so your increased activity level may be why your BP is lower now. FWIW, mine is 106/61 this morning.

I do know there are a lot of factors that can change the blood pressure reading.. My dentist is next door to my family doctor.. my blood pressure sky rockets as soon as I sit in the dentist's chair:) I asked them to check with the family doctor for a history of readings there...LOL

Barbara, you didn't start taking L-Glutamine, did you? When I took it my blood pressure went way down (and it also did with the Low Dose Naltrexone, tho it has gone back up again.)
