Hi everyone. Just checking in. I hope you are all happy and doing well. Welcome to newbies! You've found a great safe haven here, with wonderful, caring people.
I'm just checking in; I'm due for my colonoscopy and the esophagogastropy ( that's some word there) on Sept 14th. As I teach, I've been just starting back and so have not been able to get back here until now. I've been feeling somewhat better; the diarrhea has slowed down now to about two 'episodes' first thing in the morning, and then I'm fine all day. I still have odd feeling cramps that seem to move to a few different places, and a 'sickish' feeling in my stomach off and on too. I also get burping- which I wonder if it means something is wrong elsewhere too. Have any of you had that as a MC symptom? ??? My GP once told me that he didn't think that could be related to Collagenous Colitis. I had that when I was first diagnosed, and I really felt it WAS related. Hmmm. I am very strictly SCD and it is helping A LOT. Unfortunately, I still keep worrying- wish I would just smarten up and stop already.
I wanted to tell Linda (in BC) that I'm so encouraged when I hear that others have had this for a 'long' time ( not that I wish this on your lovely self at all Linda) - as I'm on 10 years myself, I was starting to think maybe everyone else was sort of done with it all after a few years and maybe something was WRONG with me. See how foolish I am. Linda - do you still get flare ups of it?
Memory- I have never done the Pepto thing with the 8 a day for 6 weeks (or whatever it is), but I do pop Pepto when I have a flare up. I just try to do it for a few days though, and usually stop taking it, if things are still continuing flare wise. I have been tempted to do the full out Pepto course. I still think about it.
Well guys. I do hope you are all fine. I'll check back in as soon as I can. I'll be home after the hospital tests of course and will check in then for sure. I'm a little nervous about the tube down the throat one. Though I believe I'll be very heavily sedated or hopefully totally OUT. Has anyone had that one?
Most sincerely,
Mia

Hi Mia,
MC tends to generate gas at times, so I was always happy to burp, because if I couldn't burp, then I would eventually bloat from the gas, and it would at some point have to be purged from the other end, which can be dangerous, of course, during an MC reaction.
I've never had an "upper" endoscopy, but those here who have, have always reported that they were sedated, and the procedure was a "piece of cake".
It's good to see that you're feeling better, and good luck with the procedure on the 14th.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
