Several months before I was diagnosed with CC our church began placing several GF, SF, DF wafers on each of the trays along with the bread. I was so happy to see this when I took communion for the first time after my diagnosis that I cried. These wafers I understand are very expensive and they taste terrible. I brought in several crackers that I felt could be used if broken into smaller pieces and would be less costly. They are going to make a switch after the current wafers have all been used.
A paragraph in the bulletin on communion Sunday reads as follows
The use of unfermented grape juice in this service expresses our concern for recovering alcoholics, enables the participation of any children and youth, and supports the church's witness for abstinence. The special wafers provided are for those who have allergies to gluten, dairy, and soy products.
Because of the increasing numbers of people with MC, I thought I would mention this here and possibly someone out there will suggest it to their church.
