More Evidence Of Compromised/Corrupt Drug Research

Post by tex »

Hi All,

Here's another excellent example of corrupt drug research reporting. I'm not implying that the reported conclusions of this research project are wrong, I'm simply saying that they are invalid, by scientific methods, because the trial was cut short. Consider this caveat:
But the new trial, published online this week in the New England Journal of Medicine, does have an important limitation. It was ended early because its sponsor, Cogentus Pharmaceuticals, lost its funding and is now defunct. The trial data was analyzed and reported independently of the sponsor.

Ended early? Well I reckon that is an important limitation. If sufficient time isn't allowed for all the drug effects to fully develop, how in the world can they claim that the results are worth anything? These guys are totally without scruples. Instead of trashing it, or finding another sponsor, they chose to report it anyway, as if their conclusions are valid. How can they be trusted to do anything right? Here's the report:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
