Maggie, how are you feeling?

Thinking of you and wondering how you are doing. I hope you aren't having any more ill effects from your nasty encounter and treatment.

Morning Linda,

I am actually feeling much better and less sore. My left hip where i fell while he was on me actually hurts worse than the leg. But that is just because I bruise easy and it is black and blue. The bites are healing well and I am sure this will be a thing of the past after the last shot is done next Sunday. Cannot wait for the end of the needles.

Love, Maggie

Mags,

Glad to hear you are healing without complications. Talk about stress level! - did the trauma it affect the MC?

Linda, I've been meaning to tell you how much I like your photo. Your horse is beautiful!!!! Name? Age? Any other details?

Love,

Polly

Polly, thanks for your sweet words. His name is Kya, (which is short for Kyanuka, an Aboriginal name for a beautiful area in the mountains near here that we ride in) He is seven years old and an absolute delight! Born and raised around here by local Mormons who had a Paso Fino stud, so he is half Paso Fino and half mountain cayuse. A more sure-footed, even tempered and willing pony you could not find. And he is "gaited" which means he has a special gait that he can do that is something between a walk and a trot, that eats up the miles but is smooth as all get out.

My link to photo upload seems to be missing on this screen so I will try to put some more pics in the photo gallery, which is probably where they belong anyway!Linda

Linda,

FWIW, the links for photo uploads do not appear with the "Quick Reply" form, (that's part of what makes it a quick reply form), but if you want to post a photo in a response to an existing thread, all you have to do is to click on the "post reply" button, to open the regular "Reply" message box, which includes the links for uploading images.

Thanks for the info on your horse. Lucky you - I was never fortunate enough to ride a "gaited" horse, (that's probably why I've always viewed them as a work tool, rather than as a recreational vehicle. Wheeled vehicles are so much smoother. Of course, I realize that in the mountains, wheeled vehicles have very little value. That's where you quickly separate the sure-footed mounts from the "also-ran"s.

I was thinking that you might have ridden your share of " Hayburners", Tex.. did your dad ever farm with horses?

Yes, the gaited ones are a pleasure to ride.. of course in the mountains you seldom ever go faster than a walk so it kind of gets wasted! And you are so right .. no ATV's up where we go.. well, not yet anyway.... thank goodness!

I did what you suggested re going in to the site through a link on my desktop and everything is working fine now. Also, I did manage (on the second attempt) to post a folder called Linda's Horsey Pics at this link,
http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewt ... 4284#84284

for any one who is interested.

Linda,

Yes, my dad farmed with horses before he was married. We had a neighbor, who still used a team of horses to pull a wagon, up until I was about 5 or 6 years old, and I can still vividly remember riding on that wagon, because I can still smell those sweaty horses in the summer sun, when I think about it. (I think I read somewhere that, according to experts, our memory of olfactory events is stronger than any other sensory perception).

At one time, we had a lot of cattle, so we used horses for working with them, but it's probably been at least 20 years since I've been on a horse.

I'm glad the suggestion helped.

The pictures look great. If you would like to have your own photo forum, I'll be happy to set one up - just say the word. There's certainly nothing wrong with the way they are posted now, though. Whatever your choice might be, is fine with me.

Sorry to hear you have been so deprived the last 20 years, Tex...

There is nothing like sitting astride a good horse to heal a cowgirl's (boy's) soul ( and maybe some of their MC too..)

Absolutely our sense of smell is our strongest memory repository... give me whiff of something from my childhood (like my Grandma's Yardley Lavender soap) and I am right back there, five years old again..

Thanks again for your all technical help.

Linda, your pictures are beyond beautiful! You live in heaven. I showed them to my husband and he wants to come for a visit one day! I told him about how so many things in your life have paralleled mine and how we both have horses in our blood. As Polly has been talking about finding those stress relievers in our lives, for me there is nothing like going for a long ride with a horse to restore my peace and well being. You are blessed! Maggie, I'm glad you're recovering from your ordeal. Someone should write up a story about you in your local paper. It's an amazing experience. We have raccoons around here, but I've never been up close and personal like you have. I hope your recovery continues to go well. JoAnn

Morning All,

Got my third shot yesterday and only one more to go next Sunday.

Polly - the antibiotics did not bother me in the least and if anything, they bound me up.

The only downside is that I am still having a bit of pus on one of the bites but it seemed improved yesterday. Just want to get this all behind me and go forward.

Everyone - Thanks for all of your kind words and prayers.

Love, Maggie

Maggie,

You've had quite an ordeal. I hope you'll be OK and not have to deal with this after Sunday.
