Hi All

Post by starfire »

I never intended to be "gone" from the board for so long.

Got through preprations for Christmas and Family Visitors, Got through Christmas and the Visit. Kind of been resting up ever since I suppose but still feeling tired and drained.

It's so strange that for a long time I was on my computer so much and now I go long stretches of time without even turning it on. I don't know what has happened.

Mom & I are doing OK. Cold here but it hasn't bothered me any yet. I bundle up to go feed the "critters" and don't have to go anywhere very often. So far we haven't had much snow at all. Just dustings until this past weekend. I suppose we've had about 5 inches or so over the last 3 days.

I'll never catch up with all the posts.............. Sorry.

Hope this year will be a good one for all of us.

Love, Shirley

Good to hear from you again, Shirley. Christmas and the holidays have a way of occupying much of our time. I hope you enjoyed your company.

Hi Shirley,

It is so wonderful to hear from you - I was so glad when I saw your name again on posts, and was just about to start a new topic to ask about you. Bingo - you beat me to it  .

Glad you made in through the holidays OK and now have a chance to rest up. Can't say I blame you for being away from the computer for a while - it sure has a sneaky tendency of taking over large chunks of time. I was glued to the computer for so many years when I was working, so you'd think I'd take a break now that I'm retired, but old habits are hard to break  .

Anyhow, welcome back and Happy New Year to you and your mom !!!

Love,
Kari

Welcome back, Shirley,

I was afraid that you were snowed in, or something. It's good to hear that you were just taking a break. Such times are good for the soul.

It's good to see you back, though.

Love,

Great to see you back Shirley!

I am with you on breaks sometimes from the computer. After all day on it at work and on my days off I have to check emails for work and then just want to get off it. Sometimes delayed since I am a SNOOD addict - instilled by many years ago reading about it on the old board.

Holidays can be draining and just high tension or for some of us it can be a downer. Did not let that happen this year.

We are getting all you snow in the SE portion of the state. Looking forward to 6-8" late today and overnight.

Love, Maggie

Hi Shirley,

Glad you and Mom made it through the holidays and are buttoned in safe and sound. My the weather patterns are crazy this winter- everywhere!
I never intended to be "gone" from the board for so long.
Neither have I, your comment rings true for me too. Having gotten back into the workforce full time four years ago has really cramped my "Potty People" time. I can hardly believe it's been that long.

Will you be in Florida at all this winter and if so, when? If it decides to warm up down there we might plan a trip and I'd love to see you again.

Love,

Thanks Everyone
And please know that even though I didn't log on (and still don't so much) I do think of all of you a lot.

We got 5 or 6 inches again last night and today. Also, we ran out of fuel oil last evening. We are on auto-delivery but haven't been here for quite a few winters so even though I notified them that the house would be occupied they underestimated. They won't again, I don't believe, since I told them I have my 87 year old mother here and she is cold all the time. It actually wasn't that bad. The coldest the house got was 59 and Mom has an electric blanket so she slept just fine. Also have a portable elec heater which I turned on for her this AM. I should have kept an eye on the gage myself. I was aware that it could happen. Hindsight is 20-20.

Joanna.......
No Florida this winter. Got rid of the place and won't be spending time there unless I go visit my kids which won't be in the near future. I would have loved to get together again though. Maybe someday.............

Hi Shirley,

I've been absent from the board for so long and didn't know about selling your place and leaving Florida.....

Stay warm.

Love,

Joanna
