Still amongst you!

Post by natythingycolbery »

So, drs was a bit of a disaster, in the sense that he seemed to not actually listen to what i was saying to him at all!

We spent most of the appointment discussing why I'm not allowed SSRI's :???:

I'm gonna try with a different Dr I think!

Sorry to hear it was such a disappointment.

So what is the plan for finding a different doctor, or at least another professional MH support person to talk to? In my part of the world there are a variety of support services that one could try, but I have no idea what Britain has on offer. Eg, Lifeline crisis phone line can also help suggest options for more support, Beyond Blue has referral lists etc.

You have done really well in identifying the need for help. Since today's visit didn't meet that need, it might be time to try some other options.

Naty,

I don't know anything about the UK health system other than what gets posted here. I hope you can find the help you need. You remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Naty,

I wish things had gone better for you. I would not blame you if you changed doctors. Everytime I go to mine for my MH issues he just Rx me another med (ativan of late). I think I am on too many meds.

I will keep you in my prayers!

Naty,

:sigh:

Hang in there. Good luck with another doctor.

Hooray for You!!!

If your doc will not listen to you--get rid of them! Has anyone suggested a mood stabilizer or an SNRI? Keep going until you find a doc who thinks "outside the box"......

Morning Naty,

Sorry to about the NHS doctor but I also know finding another doctor and getting the NHS to go along can be a rough ride. My stepson (error the other day saying SIL) is trying to switch his psychiatric doctor right now and the health service is not being very cooperative. Of course, he would be switching them every time he does not like their diagnosis or input. He is a bad case but I have to say that during his hospital stay - other than the fiasco of a release - they were really great and much better than we have here.

Good luck to you and hope they work with you.

Love, Maggie

The plan is... keep pestering until they actually help me! The UK system is that you have to be reffered to MH professionals to get their help. (There are other options to do this, which I am avoiding because they are not pretty).

I just find it amusing that my GP in my hometown was all for getting me as much help as possible, whereas at uni my GP is more 'whatever'

Naty
I am really sorry that you have such an idiot of a GP to deal with. The contrast between a good doctor and a bad doctor is so wide it is ridiculous......
but as there is a shortage thats about as good as it gets.

HOpe the result you want that will help you feel better eventuates soon. I believe there is method in some madness sometimes and things happen for a reason

take care
