Suppressing symptoms VS eliminating causes

Post by takef586 »

I have been sifting through the web in search of material about the effectiveness of placebo effect in IBD's treatment, and I have stumbled on this e- book, mostly available freely here:
http://books.google.it/books?id=hv9OPiY ... ct&f=false

"Timeless Secrets of Health and Rejuvenation " by Andreas Moritz

I am not qualified to comment on the scientific aspect of this publication, but the approach is certainly very different from the everyday medicine. I recommend you to flip through the chapters.

To give you a taste of what it is about, here's a quotation cited by the author:

"The greatest part of all chronic disease is created by the suppression of acute disease by drug poisoning" - Dr Henry Lindlahr

and another gem:

"WHO statistics conclude that 90% of all diseases prevalent today are not treatable with orthodox medical procedures"...

The indications of this publication would point directly to the benefits of a holistic approach to curing a disease like MC, with stress on diet treatment, emotional treatment, and natural anti inflammatory remedies.

I would be very interested in some comments from the medically enlighted members of this forum.

Thanks.

Well,

I don't actually qualify as medially-enlightened, but IMO, I have to agree that virtually any of the conventional drug treatments that you can name, tend to convert acute disease into chronic disease. IOW, they don't treat the disease, they simply treat the symptoms.

I'm pretty sure that many doctors would argue that point, because they probably believe that they are treating disease, but again, the facts show that they are only treating symptoms, and not addressing the disease itself.

The reason for this dilemma, of course, is because they are using treatments designed by drug companies, and drug companies are in the business of selling drugs, not curing disease. Curing disease would be contrary to their long-term goals, (to sell more drugs).

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

The more I read and learn about the current western medical treatments, the more convinced I am that the current treatments do not even begin to address the underlying disease, they just manage the symptoms.

I think my introduction into acupuncture really showed me how true this is.

If only a drug company also owned a food producing factory that make products for food intolerences.....
a girl can dream cant she???

I am very blessed (thank you :angel17: universe) that i had the fortune to work with and become close friends with Naturopaths, I have been using the blend of diet and supplements to manage the cough cough "IBS symptoms" since the late 90's and stared using acupuncture in 2002. I have embraced the use of meds as need be and part of my wholistic treatment is to support the organs that the meds may put pressure on.
Helping me to manage the MC has been a small challenge for them, but we are still fine tuning and figuring out what is going to work best. At least these people will look at your winning the pooh diary and are interested in the reactions that you are having ....

as per arlenes post today about her GI visit, she is listening to her body and researching options yet the doctor will not even listen......

I have organised to have a lymphatic drainage massage this week, discussions on the weekend with my 'treatment team' is that some of the aches and pains i feel in my ankles could be circulation related due to the lymph system not working to its optimum (which is interconnected with Spleen and the digestion process), i have had bruise marks on my lower legs for over 6 weeks.

we discussed the principle that increasing the intake of key ingredients or taking higher doses of supplements may not be the answer as if the digestion process is not working properly then i am not absorbing it.... the same for injections of Vit b or Vit K, will i get the full benefit if the circulation and absorbtion function is not 100%
