pepto/entocort

Post by jmayk8 »

I am on my 3rd wk of entorcort. The second week was great, formed stools once (sometimes twice a day) But now, for the past 5 days its back to my usual piles and D. Can I start taking some pepto along with it? and which should I use? tablets, liquid, chewables?

Hi Jenny,

It's always possible that you might be an exception, but it has been our collective experience, that in virtually every case where Entocort brings good control of symptoms, and then after a while, control is lost, the problem is almost always another food sensitivity that the immune system has "discovered", after the anti-gliadin antibody, (gluten), production has declined. IOW, the immune system seems to be capable of responding to only one major antigen at a time, and your immune system may now be responding to casein, soy, or some other protein, (that it wasn't reacting to previously, because of it's "one-track mind", so to speak. You may need to reconsider your diet.

Yes, you can safely take Pepto-Bismol simultaneously with Entocort, they will not interact. Most members do best with the tablets. Some have problems with the chewables, if they use a high dosage rate.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
