Osteoporosis research

Post by ant »

Dear All,

Given that Osteoporosis is associated with Celiac (and thus MC) and quite a few of us have bone thinning/brittle bone issues, I thought this could be useful.

But note the research was funded by a company selling Strontium Ranelate.

I am seriously considering it, but note that D can be a side effect.:???:

Best, ant

Ant,

In their defense, I would guess that no one else is likely to pay for such a study, because the drug companies are not going to pay for research that shows that a generic product works better than their high-dollar drugs, and most doctors seem to be quite satisfied with prescribing the bisphosphonates, they just try to ignore all the risks. I'm sure their attitude is sort of, "So what else is new? All drugs carry some risk." (Which is so very true).

Yes, D is listed as a possible side effect, but at least it hasn't been proven to cause MC, (and the bisphosphonates have indeed been proven to cause MC). Thanks for the link.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
