Has anyone tried one of these soda makers? I am enjoying seltzer with lemon, and without, but it's an awful lot of plastic bottles - even with the recycling, it seems wasteful.
I wouldn't use the flavor add-ins, even pre-MC. For some reason, I've never been able to drink any sodas at all, but seltzer is great. Also champagne - but that's more for glass-clinking than thirst-quenching ;)
I believe we'll have to wait for an in-home champagne insta-creator until the Star Trek replicators become more generally available.
Thanks for thoughts - it's not an inexpensive toy, but I foresee feeling generous toward myself at some near-ish point in time. The Soda Stream is definitely a big phenom here in Brooklyn, which I believe is one of the last places where you could get vintage glass seltzer spritzers delivered. (In fact, maybe I should participate in this fine tradition until Ronny retires... http://pardonmeforasking.blogspot.com/2 ... ronny.html)

Sara--
I would love one. One of the meds (not for MC) that I take makes flat drinks taste absolutely awful. Unsurprisingly, even the cheapest canned (easier to recycle) seltzer is much more expensive than soda..... It may be my birthday present to myself. In fact, there may be one like it lurking around the winery somewhere, when they were thinking about making a very inexpensive sparkling wine. They got a mini version just to profile the taste!
